Weirdcore harks back to the classic works of Chris Cunningham, and even further back than that, with his brilliant video for the title track from Aphex Twin&#39;s new EP Collapse.Featuring projection mapping and CGI,&nbsp;Weirdcore&rsquo;s mesmerizing film questions the AI theory, imagining how AI would see the world on a trip, and &ldquo;how a simulation could break and go to next level.&rdquo;With visuals that reverberate to the staccato rhythms of Aphex Twin&#39;s&nbsp;electronic beats - and the familiar grinning visage of the man himself, Richard James, starting to appear within these artificial landscapes, Weirdcore has not only referenced Chris Cunningham&#39;s Rubber Johnny book, but also the Aphex Twin video for ON - an&nbsp;abstract stop motion fest directed by Jarvis Cocker in the early Nineties.&ldquo;This video is really trying to be a modern version of the ON video, in terms of the use of abstraction and collage,&quot; says Weirdcore, who&nbsp;has created visual worlds for artists including&nbsp;MIA, Radiohead, Miles Cyrus and Tame Impala.&nbsp;&ldquo;This was a dream project, not only because I&rsquo;d been waiting years for Richard (Aphex Twin) to ask me, but also the fact I was Creative Director for the whole campaign (video, artwork, press, ad, visuals).&nbsp; When I joined the PRETTYBIRD roster back in 2014, I was keen to do stills artwork, and this Aphex campaign is the perfect vehicle for that.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Legendary artist, master of confrontational imagery and one-half of the Chapman Brothers, Jake Chapman, throws&nbsp;about thirty stock photos into a digital blender in what can only be described as art.Loosely following the lyrical themes of the song, Chapman cares not for the formal rules of broadcast quality, as the video skews between various aspect ratios without stopping to consider the effect it might have on your eyes. To call it abrasive (and divisive) would certainly be an understatement. But the band are certaily happy.&quot;The record label asked what we wanted to do for the video and I told them I&#39;d already given the whole budget to Jake Chapman to do whatever he wanted,&quot; says Frank Carter. &quot;He made the most visually disturbing and captivating ruinous piece of offensive/non-offensiveness that I have ever seen. First time he sent it for approval it failed the Harding test 858 times!&quot;It goes without saying that having Jake make us a video is basically mind blowing for me. I grew up spending my summers in the Saatchi gallery staring at all the insane art and their first version of Hell had a profound effect on me. Thank you Jake for your continued faith and support in the project and thanks for making an absolutely mental video that makes me feel uneasy every time I watch it.﻿&quot;

M.I.A. takes the reins to direct her own video for Double Bubble Trouble, and makes something totally distinctive - and very M.I.A. &nbsp;This is M.I.A.&#39;s version of a dystopian near-future in which youth control their technology, and run the world - wielding guns made on 3D-printers, and peace drones floating on their housing estates.&nbsp;Shot on multiple formats&nbsp;ranging from 4K to 16mm to iPhone, reflecting the multiple platforms of communication in the tech age,&nbsp;it&#39;s a&nbsp;riot of imagery, ideas, visual wit, with a&nbsp;trademark whiff of danger.With guest appearances from her track collaborators The Party Squad - together with squadrons of London kids - its an extravaganza of style and tech - and London attitude &ndash;&nbsp;supervised by producers Juliette Larthe and Margo Mars at Prettybird.
