Kawala and Do Not Entry team up for another madcap music video, this time for lilting track&nbsp;Chasing/Wasting Time.&nbsp;The video follows the Kawala boys and their hapless&nbsp;attempt to get onto the property ladder. What follows is a weird adventure involving wild band members, shady landlords, and dodgy dealings.Opening with a lo-fi internet aesthetic, the tone&nbsp;is very much tongue-in-cheek, aided by amateur wordart, cheap stock photos and absurd performances.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Peter Riches allows&nbsp;the humour to play out with straightforward cinematography, top-notch in quality with a peppering of zooms and pans to add a zesty energy to the concept.&nbsp;

Sheena Brobbey directs a 90's inspired promo for Tiana Blake's Interruption.Flipping through an endless stream of outfits and looks, we see Blake trying to decide what to wear to impress her love interest, before settling on something that is authentic and true to her.&nbsp;The bedroom set is an editorial fantasy, washed in blue and pink colour palettes, which add to the aspirational vibes, and the lo-fi DV footage leans into the nostalgic aesthetic.&nbsp;

Olivia Rose directs a celestial, otherworldly promo for Lancey Foux.&nbsp;Known for reinterpreting masculinity through a female gaze in both her&nbsp;photography and video projects, Rose's concept exists in a parallel space and time, evidenced by surreal imagery - a fish covered in luminescent butterflies, as an example - and a soft, introspective performance, leaning into a certain vulnerability that shapes the entire narrative.&nbsp;It's a wonderful, unexpected vision, and one of the most unique promos of the year, arriving just a couple of weeks before 2020 finally ends.&nbsp;

Claire Arnold channels the spirit of great '60s singers - as part of a classic girl group and then when they go solo - for new British R&amp;B&nbsp;artist Olivia Dean.Recreating the style of a mid-century monochrome TV performance, Dean performs Hardest Part as&nbsp;the lead singer in a classic Motown-style girl group. But then the style changes to a disco-era TV show aesthetic&nbsp;- in colour, prism lenses - with Olivia as the Diana Ross-like solo star.&nbsp;And we get to see that shimmering gown she's wearing in all its glory.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Felix Brady explores our sense of self in the mesmerising video for Greentea Peng's Hu Man.&nbsp;Spanning a series of hyperstylised vignettes, the video is packed full of iconography alluding to our sense of self and the falsehoods we have bought into as a society, and laments the way we are so reliant on our own egos.&nbsp;Peng explains, "The track is a war cry. Calling upon the energy of Kali Ma- ‘The Dark Mother’, to strip us from our ego, take the skin and leave the spirit and transcend the veil of Maya - The cosmic illusion. For the battleground is inside of us - between you and your ego. BWTV direct a transcendent and philosophical visual for Doves' Prisoners.&nbsp;Following the incredible VFX trickery in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/06/29/doves-carousels-yoni-weisberg/65436">Carousels</a>&nbsp;- their first release in over ten years - this video follows a similarly abstract pattern, focusing on vignettes of life and the universe.&nbsp;Spanning a huge variety of self-contained mini-concepts, the setups includes&nbsp;a fawn inside a modern apartment, a variety of lighting patterns inside&nbsp;buildings and off-kilter journeys through the streets and skies.&nbsp;Complete with a series of breathless visual effects, the video is a triumphant return for Doves, and a perfect follow-up to the last release.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]

Ruby &amp; Boya directs a new visual for Duchess, taking the format of an on-screen collection of different social media and video-chat windows.The concept explores the ups and downs of a modern long-distance relationship, which in this case has the pandemic to blame instead of the physical space between them.&nbsp;It's authentic and engaging, with Ruby &amp; Boya, who also devised the VFX,&nbsp;doing a great job of interweaving social media iconography with simple but well-acted performances.&nbsp;

Yoni Weisberg has devised a euphoric and mesmerising world in a video that heralds the long-awaited return of Manchester band Doves.Weisberg's video for Carousels (featuring a sample of the late Tony Allen's legendary drumming)&nbsp;introduces us to his new reality, where brutalist architecture is deconstructed, and comes apart from regimented reality. It's engrossing, constantly engaging, and when the viewer comes to terms with this world, the director introduces into a new level of abstraction to help twist the reality further.“As soon as the opportunity came up to create a video for an iconic band in Doves I knew that it was one which I couldn’t let slip through my fingers," says Weisberg. "The development of the creative approach was very collaborative with the band and they’ve been both brilliant partners and incredibly supportive all throughout the creation of the video for Carousels."When we started on the road with this project the world was in a very different place but in the end I think there is something rather serendipitous about having made a video which takes the world somewhat as we know it, then turned it on it’s head to create something almost unrecognisable.”

Jonas Blue and guest vocalist MAX cavort with giant animated women in Isaac Rentz's neon dream for the suggestive Naked.With Rentz aided and abetted by the post work of the versatile Gemma Yin, this is a thoroughly entertaining confection of visual elements, featuring rotoscoped images of dancers, rendered in neon-style outline, augmentoing MAX's very likeable performance - while Jonas Blue plas the cool mastermind role, partly from behind the wheel of a vintage Mercedes convertible.Rentz remoted directed everything here during quarantine, with the artists shooting themselves (with their families' help) at their homes, courtesy of his and DoP Dannell Escalon's guidance. With Gemma Yin's contribution with the animation and editing it;s another lockdown video that transcends its limitations.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

As we know, no Glastonbury this year. No festivals at all. It hardly seems possible. But&nbsp;this could be the closest you get to a transcendent experience in a field:&nbsp;Joe Wilson's video for Just Hold On, the latest collaboration between Sub Focus and Wilkinson, takes us into the private rave of two friends, at golden hour.&nbsp;Set in&nbsp;countryside&nbsp;peppered with rocky structures and lush scenery, the two girls drink, dance and smoke the evening away as the sun sets. Or possibly rises. The&nbsp;video evokes carefree snapshots of youth and friendship, beautifully visualised by&nbsp;Ed Hubert's loose and experimental cinematography.Things start in fairly straightforward narrative form, but then the imagery begins to reflect the girls' state of trippy bliss. Film frames blur, and then double-expose: grainy textures&nbsp;are laid upon frenzied close-ups, building into a glitchy kaleidoscope of memories, dissipating as quickly as they formed. Just like you're having the time of your life in the Green Fields this midsummer...

Yousef follows up his brilliant video&nbsp;for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/03/30/piero-pirupa-braindead-heroin-kills-yousef/64051" target="_blank">Piero Pirupa's Braindead</a> with another gem, this time for SG Lewis, and this time made in quarantine conditions.&nbsp;Self-shot by the artist in isolation, Yousef has thoroughly manipulated that performance footage of Chemicals through inventive use of After Effects. SG is endlessly replicated within the confines of a TV-shaped screen, in increasingly off the wall ways, as if&nbsp;they might well be chemically-induced.Beyond that, there are the contributions&nbsp;by&nbsp;other animators and VFX artists who, in the fashion of Peter Gabriel's classic Sledgehammer video,&nbsp;provide seconds-long bursts of fresh animation styles, integrated into the main body of work.
