Detective, superhero, Mandela... and now hucksterish TV shopping salesman. Idris Elba can do it all - as he demonstrates in Jamie-James Medina's bright, breezy and multi-layered&nbsp;video for Big Talk, the actor's collab with Manchester producer duo&nbsp;Solardo.In the video, Idris is the charismatic host of&nbsp;BIG TALK, broadcasting live on lo-fi cams from a basement studio. As Solardo and two girls man the phones, he is delivering an evangelistic sermon for the financially interested - and his financial advice is entirely based around the mysterious substance of Ambergris - the unique form of waste product created by whales that can be used in making perfume.[imgtoken data:1]Medina employs some familiar devices of the shopping channel aesthetic, camerawork, stock footage, in-camera FX and titles - merging with 80s/90s&nbsp;music video greenscreen FX.&nbsp;But within the visual fun, there is something rather more serious going on. The insidiousness of the host and his message is where Idris comes into his own, enabling him to get his teeth into the character.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As Jamie-James Medina explained in his treatment for the video: "Idris is the host of BIG TALK - a little show about BIG ideas. He produces a weekly sermon for the financially interested. He is part financial advisor, part spiritual guru. And all hustler. Beneath the views on the day’s business news, our host is operating a surreal and dangerous game of deception.[imgtoken data:2]"On this broadcast, he seems to only be interested in one very specific natural resource: ambergris aka whale vomit. In its purest form, the intestinal slurry can be found bobbing through the ocean, where it slowly hardens under the sun. Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick, described the smell of whale’s vomit as 'a faint stream of perfume.'&nbsp;It is this stream — the crystalized ambergris — that washes ashore and has become a highly coveted perfume ingredient, used to fix scent to skin. Indeed, a group of fishermen in Yemen stumbled upon a small chunk of the stuff in the belly of a dead whale in 2021, which they sold for $1.5 million."Our host looks into the camera and says, 'If you’re ready to storm the beaches in search of AMBERGRIS, then I have a deal for you! Call us right now on 0898-BIG-T£LK!'&nbsp;[imgtoken data:3]As the track continues to bang, we watch as the host pulls a brick of ambergris from his pocket and delivers a verse from Melville’s Moby Dick."A message on the&nbsp;dangers of human greed wrapped up into an alluring package - and it's a banging track. What more could you want?&nbsp;

Thomas James explores the fleeting nature of relationships and emotion,&nbsp;in his video for&nbsp;Bobby Gillespie &amp; Jehnny Beth.Inhabiting an empty house, the artists are shown existing in their own space, together but apart, never quite reaching a comfortable medium.&nbsp;There is tension in the air, occasionally erupting into frantic movement and anguished looks, examining the nature of a relationship that was never meant to be.&nbsp;The abstract concept is visualised with excellent black and white cinematography by DoP Tim Sidell, and the performances are perfectly uncomfortable in their execution.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

No Rome commands a&nbsp;brutalist world that revolves and evolves, in Adam Powell's video for Talk Nice.&nbsp;Stood against a&nbsp;wall and basketball hoop, the No Rome&nbsp;- aka&nbsp;Guendoline Rome Viray Gomez -&nbsp;confidently performs as the camera spins around him 360 degrees, creating a frenetic and experimental energy. Motion is the key theme in this visual, and whether it's the camera, the car or the dancers, things are always moving.Separate setups show two dancers exploring the world, jumping and looping together in harmony, and No Rome hanging from the basketball hoop, which grows ever higher into the sky. With each spin, the characters are in different positions, and even multiply on screen to create simultaneous versions of themselves.&nbsp;Powell's video is for the first release from No Rome's second album, which the artist has described, in <a href="https://www.nme.com/news/music/no-rome-talk-nice-life-has-a-price-to-pay-interview-dirty-hit-1975-2554050" target="_blank">a recent interview with NME</a>, as being&nbsp;"about these emotions that relate to cost and money." He added: "Adam Powell has been doing all my videos. This one is showing the contrast between masculinity and something else, as well as the cars and the concrete alongside humanity. There are two men dancing very gracefully around all of this stuff. It’s a very brutalist video, and that’s what I really love. I love things that are minimal and raw."

How much would&nbsp;our lives matter at the end of the world? This is a question that is explored in great detail in the video for La Visage De La Nuit, directed by Raphael Levy.A couple living alone, after a tsunami ravages their city, go through the motions of everyday life - love, arguments, frustration, boredom. However the lingering issue of what they are meant to do and be in this society hangs above their heads, as they desperately search for meaning, to no avail. Yes they have each other, but does that help or hinder them, and in the end does it even matter at all?Standing hand in hand as a massive fireball blasts towards the beach they are standing on, their connection is evident. We get snapshots of memories of their lives together, both pre and post-apocalypse, which then extends into&nbsp;cosmic exploration and a massive existential crisis.&nbsp;Beautifully lensed by&nbsp;Tim Sidell, the world on screen looks and feels like the one we know, however the threat of extinction bubbles over at the halfway point, and this is represented through frenetic camerawork and quickfire&nbsp;editing. The performances are just as powerful, and we are left with the same questions we had at the beginning.&nbsp;

Everyman Cinemas recently enlisted the help of Darkroom director Sophie Jones to create a visual piece of work that emphasises the power of music in film. Promoting a collaboration between Everyman and Apple Music, the film features three British artists; Obongjayar, Celeste and Master Peace.The end result is surreal and cinematic, combining music with arresting visuals. The project, where Sophie was also creative director, is now being screened in Everyman cinemas across the UK.

Bring Me The Horizon 'Mantra' (Director's Cut) by Alex Southam

Adam Powell&#39;s video for The 1975&#39;s&nbsp;Love It If We Made It throws out chunks of memorable imagery: colourful silhouettes of the band performing juxtaposed with a blaze of footage of modern news events and its most notorious figures; then an anonymous boyband dancing and a succession of headshots&nbsp;of ordinary young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;This brief excursion into showing how modern life has never been more rubbish, and frightening, with snatches of visual wit and humanity.&nbsp;The excellent song comes from the forthcoming album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, out at the end of November.
