Crowns &amp; Owls direct a poetic and symbolic&nbsp;one-shot promo for Palestinian-Canadian singer-songwriter Nemah Hasan - aka&nbsp;Nemahsis.&nbsp;The concept reveals itself through a gradual&nbsp;tracking shot, opening with the artist in near freeze-frame, barely mumbling the song's lyrics,&nbsp;before she breaks out of her pose and starts to realise she is part of the window display of a New York department store, and trapped behind the glass.[imgtoken data:1]The video follows Nemahsis's emergence on TikTok as a singular voice as a hijab-wearing modern woman, and her second single Dollar Signs expresses the pain of being exploited. Directing team Crown &amp; Owls'&nbsp;evocative video explores those themes of self-worth and societal pressure, and the distinctive, painterly aesthetic elevates the visual to a transcendent, poignant space.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"Numerous times, I&nbsp;have found myself being taken advantage of - often in ways unimaginable," explains the Palestinian-Canadian&nbsp;in the video description. "I&nbsp;have cemented my worth and placed it in gold, only to be recognized as cheap wood and&nbsp;common plastic - means to an end. It is a heartbreaking truth. Society takes yet rarely does it return; it is eager to put its people in a glass box.”

Canadian director Peter Huang has already made a number of powerful videos for Canadian-Colombian singer Jessie Reyez - including the extraordinary <a href="https://www.madrukent.com/jessie-reyez-body-count/" target="_blank">Body Count</a> and her pugnacious turn <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/12/31/eminem-ft-jessie-reyez-good-guy-peter-huang/56626" target="_blank">opposite Eminem in Good Guy</a>. Their latest collaboration is for&nbsp;Far Away, which is deceptively powerful with a humanitarian purpose.This starts as one thing - a conventional, mildly salacious&nbsp;pop promo - before Huang starts to undermine the prevailing reality. We see this scene is being watched on TV by two generations of males in a lower-income American family, intercut with shots of Trump.Huang's next reality is a Saturday night dance, featuring Reyez dancing with her boyfriend, among other couples - a serenity shattered by tear gas cannisters and ICE officials tearing people from their loved ones. Her lover is then visualised in a colourful Latin-esque portrait with his mother - and then he's dead in her arms.Huang's imaginative use of imagery creates a sense of unease and chaos which serves to evoke the fear and horror created by Trump's immigration policies, the violence suffered by immigrants at the hands of ICE officers.&nbsp;The video implores viewers to 'be part of the solution'&nbsp;and directs them to JessieReyez.com, where three non-profit organizations are tagged: the American Civil Liberties Union, Al Otro Lado and The Florence Project.In an official statement shared with&nbsp;CBS News, the singer has said: “I see myself in those that are being wrongfully persecuted. I see my dad anytime I see people disrespecting a Latino because they can’t speak English properly. I see those things. I wanted to make it as potent a visual as possible. So it can be a catalyst in your brain.”

After their great &#39;origin&#39; videos Guilt Trip and Sleep In The Heat, PUP and Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux now flash-florward 40 years,&nbsp;to the band&#39;s dotage, in a grimly believable dystopian version of Canada.KIDS finds the band,&nbsp;playing themselves in heavy old man prosthetics,&nbsp;broken up and forgotten, with each member living out their own futuristic worst fears (both for their own lives and the world&#39;s). When Stefan, their long lost frontman, is discovered in a backwoods trailer, the newest member of the family forces them to confront their legacy, friendship and mortality.Schaulin-Rioux&#39;s tenth video for the band is as heartfelt as all the previous ones, with excellent detail on very unequally distributed technological advancement.&nbsp;It&#39;s characteristically bleak, and over the top, but also surprisingly elegaic.But surely, this can&#39;t be the end, can it...?

This lighthearted and abstract performance piece by Peter Huang for SonReal is a funny if somewhat unsettling video. The simple premise is extremely well edited and executed and is the perfect accompaniment for the catchy track.&nbsp;If Gap hired SonReal to do his own campaign, maybe they&#39;d end up with something like this.
