He runs and he runs, along tracks in seemingly endless woodland, captured beautifully on land and overhead, until he reaches the sea.Barnes&#39; widescreen approach really suits&nbsp;Croll&#39;s bombastic indie-pop, and he delivers a good punchline too.&nbsp;

Directing duo Brian and Karl have paired up with English folk rock trio&nbsp;The Staves for these lovely, troubling visuals for Steady.&nbsp;Shot on 16mm film, the ambiguous&nbsp;clip sees the three sisters in a state of anxiety and fear, looking at themselves into&nbsp;scenes of their own death. On their Facebook page,&nbsp;The Staves - who seem to enjoy a dark sense of humour&nbsp;-&nbsp;summarise the video with the phrase,&nbsp;&quot;Jess face down in a swimming pool, Camilla struggling to turn off an alarm clock and Emily pretending she&#39;s in The Godfather.&quot;&nbsp;

THE STAVES // Steady

The problems of empty-nest&nbsp;middle-aged couples is an unusual&nbsp;subject for a music video, but with this one for Tropics&#39; Rapture, Chris Toumazou takes it on, and does a very impressive&nbsp;job.It&#39;s the portrayal of an ordinary, council flat-dwelling couple left in an emotional void&nbsp;when their only son leaves home. The gritty realism of the situation is emphasised by&nbsp;the cinematic look - it&#39;s shot on 35mm. But in keeping with Tropics&#39; soulful ballad, it&#39;s ultimately&nbsp;a lot more sweet than downbeat, as the midlifers make tentative steps at rebooting their relationship.&nbsp;Chris and&nbsp;Tropics (aka Chris Ward) and good friends, and their previous video together, for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/07/05/tropics-home-consonance-chris-toumazou" target="_blank">Home &amp; Consonance</a>, was nominated for an MVA.&nbsp;There&#39;s a good interview with Tropics about the video &ndash;&nbsp;and his new musical direction &ndash;&nbsp;on <a href="http://noisey.vice.com/blog/the-new-tropics-video-is-what-happens-when-your-parents-leave-home" target="_blank">Noisey</a>, although the interviewer is a bit obsessed with &#39;fruit porn&#39; - see picture above.&nbsp;

Frederick Lloyd and Big Sixes took an ambitious approach to the band&#39;s EP&nbsp;The Idles&nbsp;- the five songs on the EP&nbsp;soundtrack a dark and atmospheric 15 minute short film.Charlie Costello of the band explains, &ldquo;The idea was to create something which was beautiful and ambiguous. Something that would resonate differently to different people, in different situations. Where your interpretation of the film alters your own emotional context, every time you watch it. We also wanted to create something that was visually stunning.&quot;A composer himself, Frederick shows his innate understanding of music in this project alongside his customary exquisite cinematography. And he can make it snow inside. &nbsp;

A rousing performance by Deaf Havana of their song Boston Square captured by Frederick Lloyd on location in Churchill&rsquo;s house in Putney (where the recent video for Dido was also shot).
&ldquo;I wanted to do something that matched Deaf Havana&rsquo;s new image and sound, but also resonated with the lyrics as it&rsquo;s an incredibly personal and tragic song despite the upbeat nature of it in parts,&rdquo; says Frederick. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s about someone really close to you from your past ending their life and so I wanted to tie together a really strong, emotive performance-based video, that really did the grand, anthemic nature of the track justice.
&ldquo;I wanted to tie in this idea of memory and nostalgia, these fading memories and reflections but also the idea that they are never forgotten, always living within those memories. So I tried to bring some of that across, introducing small, dreamlike moments within a thundering performance from the band.&rdquo;

Here's a seriously lofi video for Hot Chip's How Do You Do by Rollo Jackson, which he shot, in an organic sort of way, in London and LA - and packed with "amazing things". 
"I wanted to make a video that reflected the blissful, joyful nature of the song - a sort of celebration of 'amazing things' like dancing, diving, etc - and above all was fun and didn't take itself too seriously," Rollo explains. 
"The band were keen that it shouldn't look overproduced and that skateboarding was involved. Given the state of the weather here and that I had very little time to work with, I got in touch with a friend of mine in LA who I knew could help and jumped on a plane to go and shoot the surfing / skating and a lot of palm trees! 
"Naturally, the first day I got there it rained..."
