Steve Milbourne's second experimental music video project in quick succession (following EMiL's Deadwood) is for RCA artist Tanya Lacey's catchy Born To Fly.

"We were inspired by some of the lovely cinemagraphs we've seen around the web recently, and we decided this concept on a much larger scale would make a really interesting visual narrative. We shot the cinemagraph as the full length of Stokes Croft Road in Bristol (around 140 meters in length) and have rendered it for HTML5 as well as a version on Youtube."

A little experimental music video for EMiL's Deadwood by Steve Milbourne - who's more usually occupied making commercials for Sony Music, including the MVA-winning ad for Mark Ronson &amp; The Business International's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/09/29/mark-ronson-the-business-international-30s-tv-ad-by-steve-milbourne-phil-clandillon/" target="_blank">Record Collection</a>. 
"Normally we wouldn't take on a regular music video job, and in this case the label had an absolute shoestring budget... literally enough for a camera and some lights," Steve explains. "But I spoke to the artist and a thought struck that perhaps I could add something different. So I decided to shoot a very simple straightforward one shot performance of Emil in black and white, accompanied by a dancer.
"The reason for the dancer is that (without telling anyone in the treatment) I thought I'd experiment a little with YouTube, and so I used her as a mechanism to make a little stop frame animation hidden within the video - which is a nod towards someone that Emil mentioned to me as one of his biggest musical influences.
"The way it works is that in standard resolution, once the video has pre-loaded (grey bar is full at the bottom). If you mute the volume and then press the number keys on your keyboard 1 to 0 in turn, you get the effect. Could be a nice little mechanism that could be of use in some higher budget things next year!"

From the team that produced the excellent tv ad for Mark Ronson's new album Record Collection (Steve Milbourne &amp; Phil Clandillon), is this imaginative and original interactive promo for Lissie's new single Cuckoo. 
The video is controlled by real weather data and Lissie was shot performing live in the weather studio through five different weather types which change according to the area you choose on the map - in real time through the piece.

Lissie’s Cuckoo by Steve Milbourne & Phil Clandillon

Nominated in the Best Music Ad category at the UK Music Video Awards 2010 for their Calvin Harris Human Synthesizer and Kasabian Football Hero clips, Steve Milbourne and Phil Clandillon have delivered another gem in this highly creative commercial for Mark Ronson &amp; The Business International's Record Collection album. 
Moving away clichéd album advertising, the 30 second commercial uses animated forms of guests who appear on the record - Boy George, Kyle Falconer, Q-Tip, Wiley and Simon Le Bon
"With this ad we're trying to break away from the traditional 'music' TV ad and create some space" explains Milbourne. 
"We're also trying to touch on nostalgia for our core audience for this product which is female 20-35 and so we came up with this spot, which is already generating a lot of talk across social media".

So here's their latest collaboration, for new single Shock Horror: a good-looking and suspenseful performance video, with an undercurrent of impending violence.

Indica is a directing team with a difference - a group of creatives who can each take on directing responsibilities at any given time, all under the auspices of veteran promo producer and Indica owner/executive producer Simon Poon Tip.
So the style of work under the Indica name - or brand if you like - can vary enormously. Their latest two videos illustrate the point. First up is Does It Offend You Yeah's Epic Last Song, where the band are cheekily transformed into tiny clockwork men who still manage (with some difficulty) to play their instruments. 
It's very nicely done - must have taken ages...

It's for Last Of The Lookers, which may be an ironic title as their singer is not exactly your conventionally handsome frontman.

The Ting Tings are clearly fabulous. Great DJ was very good, and That's Not My Name is even more infectious, a surefire monster, the feelgood chant of 2008. 
Sophie Muller did a video for this, but here's the version by David Allain for Indica at PTE: unpretentious, tremendous energy, great edit - right up to the bit where the lovely Katie Ting is all puffed out after jumping around for so long. Marvellous.
