Park Village have signed three new directors to expand their commercials and music video roster:&nbsp;Jared Knecht, Elliot Simpson and Sil and Jorik.Dutch directors Sil van der Woerd and Jorik Dozy&nbsp;(above) started to co-direct in 2017, combining&nbsp;exotic locations, stunning cinematography and high-end visual effects in&nbsp;their music videos and short films, telling&nbsp;heartfelt stories that, more often than not, touch on ecological and humanitarian issues.In 2018 alone their work received 28 awards for Novo Amor's Birthplace (above), including Best Music Video at the Camerimage Festival. Coming from a VFX background their work combines&nbsp;vision and craftsmanship with integrity and tenacity. The release of their stunning double music video, Sleepless / Repeat Until Death, for artist and regular collaborator Novo Amor, coincides with the news that they are joining Park Village for representation across music videos, content and commercials. He’s recently directed spots for Toyota, RIMOWA, Adidas, Google and others. Tribeca Film Festival’s “See Yourselves in Others” campaign was featured in the New York Times and received Creativity's Pick of the Day. In 2018 Jared was awarded the YDA award for his film ‘I Got This’ for Face The Music. The energy of his work, his background in editing and post-production, and a strong use of&nbsp;choreography has led to several successful collaborations with Adidas and Puma.Elliot is also an accomplished photographer capturing Skepta, Stormzy, Idris Elba, Mike Skinner, Chipmunk, Chase &amp; Status, Gorgon City and Rita Ora for artist and brand campaigns for Beats By Dre, Adidas, Converse, Nike, Vans, and Vogue. Park Village expands roster by signing Sil and Jorik, Elliot Simpson and Jared Knecht

After two previous collaborations with Ali John Meredith-Lacey, aka Novo Amor, directing duo&nbsp;Sil Van Der Woerd &amp; Jorik Dozy have now completed a stunning double music video-short film for the Welsh artist, shot in Mongolia&nbsp;among&nbsp;the country&#39;s dwindling nomadic community of reindeer herders, The Tsaatan - now existentially threatened by the impact of climate change.&nbsp;[vidtoken data:0]The story, told with outstanding filmmaking skill by Sil and Jorik - who recently signed to Park Village for UK representation -&nbsp;follows a miner&#39;s desperate attempt to keep his daughter alive, by taking her out of the smoke-choked city of Ulaanbaater,&nbsp;to find a shamen who can save her. That journey leads to them both into the wilderness, becoming lost, and then being saved by a reindeer-riding member of The Tsaatan.As the first part of the story, for Sleepless, ends with a sense of hope, Van Der Woerd and Dozy tackle the full extent of the environmental disaster unfolding in Mongolia, and particularly for the Tsaatan,&nbsp;in the second part. In Repeat Until Death, the father and daughter discover that there is no hiding place&nbsp;from the effects of&nbsp;air pollution and climate change, even in the uncharted wilderness, as the Tsaatan and their animals suffer from the changing habitat.[vidtoken data:1]For all the beauty of how this is put together, the wonderful drone-shot landscapes throughout the whole piece, this is a&nbsp;sobering, bleak warning of the natural and human cost of unchecked industrialization. It also forms part of a greater body of work, which deals with different different aspects of the same devastating issue: their video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/11/02/novo-amor-ed-tullett-terraform-jorik-dozy-sil-van-der-woerd/50299" target="_blank">Terraform</a>, shot in a sulphur volcano in Indonesia; then with <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/06/20/novo-amor-birthplace-sil-van-der-woerd-and-jorik-dozy/53703" target="_blank">Birthplace</a>, their extraordinary prop whale made of plastic bags and rubbish created for the completely underwater-shot video in Bali.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;For this project, the Dutch directing duo spent 20 days in Mongolia, navigating extreme conditions. They travelled from the city of Ulaanbaatar and the Nalaikh coal mine, to the most Northern region of the country. Limited road infrastructure and the Tsaatan tribe&rsquo;s secluded location meant even their 4x4 jeep struggled to get the crew across bumpy dirt tracks for days at a time.Ulaanbaatar&rsquo;s intense pollution occurs in winter, when temperatures drop well below -35 degrees Celsius. With strong wind intensifying the cold, the crew could only be outside for a maximum of 15-minutes. This extreme weather presented challenges not only physically for the crew and cast, but also for the equipment. The team overcame issues with the drones such as signal loss and malfunctioning landing gear. All of the gear, which was touch-screen-only, had to be gradually acclimatised between internal and external settings, as they would immediately condense.But even with those extraordinary challenges, the resulting film is remarkable, poignant&nbsp;- and ultimately, properly terrifying.&nbsp;

In Sil Van Der Woerd and Jorik Dozy&#39;s extraordinary, hugely resonant video for Novo Amor a man walks along the ocean floor surveying the wonder of marine life, from sea turtle to gigantic manta ray. And the remarkable footage is an accurate reflection of the&nbsp;working conditions in Kawah Ijen. The experience of getting to know the sulphur miners and learn about their situation made such a profound impact, that a movement was started by the team to raise awareness and collect donations for charity work in the region. Made last year, and an award-winner at the DNBA Awards 2016, but Sil Van Der Woerd&#39;s video for Noisia&#39;s&nbsp;Mantra is arguably more relevant than ever as we enter the dark&nbsp;era of Trump.The Dutch director has chronicled the truth of the refugee experience&nbsp;in a way that&#39;s both harshly realistic and figurative. The shoot involved working with real refugees from the Middle East, Africa and Afghanistan, together with dancers, and shot in Sicily and the Netherlands, recreating the journeys that all of them had faced.The effect of the having dancers among the real refugees could have been a trite move, but it works superbly well in visualising the psychological effect of facing extreme danger and potential death on the journey to, what they hope will be safe harbour.
