The video for James Massiah's Natural Born Killers (Ride For Me) won Best Music Video at Energa Camerimage 2019, the film festival celebrating the art of cinematography, while Jon Hopkins' Singularity won Best Cinematography In A Music Video.The winners of the two awards in the Music Videos Competition were announced at the closing ceremony on the final night of the festival, last Saturday (November 16th), at the festival's new venue at the Jordanki Cultural Centre in Toruń, Poland.Directed by&nbsp;Ian Pons Jewell, with cinematography by&nbsp;Mauro Chiarello,&nbsp;the James Massiah video - shot in Buenos Aires, depicting an intense heatwave&nbsp;that has a remarkable effect on the city's inhabitants - won the Best Music Video award, picked&nbsp;from a&nbsp;shortlist of 18 music videos&nbsp;by a jury chaired by veteran cinematographer Pascal Lebègue. Big-hitting commercials director Seb Edwards makes a spectacular splash into the world of music videos with this epic visual blockbuster for Jon Hopkins.A man returning from the shops into his dimly-lit housing estate encounters a woman like no other. For a start, she floats from the sky and then lures him into bliss with warm eyes, alluring movement and sheer physical magnetism. But then she starts to reveal another side to her nature - and her superhuman strength.Part dance piece, part-superhero film, part psychological drama, Edwards takes us into a self-contained world in which everything is at the service to the music - the characteristically pulsating electronica of Hopkins&#39; Singularity - and its achieved brilliantly. It&nbsp;has clearly been a labour of love for the director, and its a sheer joy to watch.

James Blake&#39;s cover of Joni Mitchell&#39;s classic A Case Of You gets an intense essay on a relationship - and the many different shades of the female protagonist - starring the luminous and compelling Rebecca Hall.&quot;This was an important video for James,&quot; says Seb, &quot;Joni Mitchell went to one of his gigs at the Troubadour in LA and when they met backstage she gave his cover her blessing. A rare compliment apparently. Out of respect for her we both felt that the film should capture the honesty and emotional depth of the song.&quot;There&#39;s a purity to James&#39; cover, so I wanted to do something simple and stripped back. One room, one actress and effectively one shot. It is basically a random collection of memories that are joined together to create a single experience. I wanted to be able to see the lighting and emotional transitions happen in-camera rather than cutting from one scene to the next, so it was quite challenging to shoot in a day.&quot;In many ways it&#39;s a mixture of theatre and cinema, so Rebecca Hall seemed to be the perfect choice given her background in both disciplines. She&#39;s an amazing actress and I knew that she would be able to create a complex and compelling character. A nod to Joni Mitchell herself.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
