Jorja Smith plays a cunning car mechanic, involved in a money-making wheeze with her co-star Shaybo,&nbsp;in the gritty and atmospheric video for Bussdown&nbsp;directed Fenn O'Meally - and filmed in Jorja's hometown in Walsall.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;&nbsp;If the sight of Jorja as a West Midlands car mechanic seems unlikely at first, O'Meally makes it work by drawing on various influences and sharp cinematic techniques from Hollywood heist movies, and also closer to home. Initially, it's Jorja who uses her charm to seriously overcharge customers at the auto repair garage. Shaybo observes on the CCTV, before they indulge in their taste for jewellry, as Jorja transforms out of her oily overalls into something more glamorous.[imgtoken data:2]For&nbsp;a song which has an unhurried soulful tempo, O’Meally's command of the narrative, attention to detail&nbsp;and integration of the performances is exceptional. This is a very confident and stylish video by the director - also from the West Midlands - and&nbsp;a great platform for the performers who display their natural personalities and chemistry while inhabiting their fictional roles. The cinematography by&nbsp;Patrick Golan is perfect for providing the fusion of English kitchen sink grittiness and slick music video glamour.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:3]“Honestly, it's been a blessing working with an artist who is so driven, so hard working and so collaborative," says O'Meally. Danish director Nina Holmgren has created a gorgeous showcase for the rising singer Justine Skye, that's also a knowing commentary on our obsessive relationship with screen technology - and features some notable members of Skye's celebrity fanbase.In the video for Intruded - which is bookended by two other tracks from her debut album Space &amp; Time - Skye is the glamorous figure in various scenarios that riff upon corporatism, surveillance culture, outmoded yet classic technology and voyeurism.Whether she's surrounded by rows of CCTV cameras, or banks of TVs and DV cams, Skye is the cool, self-possessed, high-fashioned presence in a&nbsp;range of visceral textures, from vinyl to leather to silk.[imgtoken data:1]The cameras carry multiple images of the singer from the range of cameras, and also of the notable others - Timbaland, who produced her album, Lil Yachty and Bella Hadid, the latter uttering random phrases.Holmgren was influenced by the pioneering video artist Naim June Paik, with at least one explicit nod to his screen-based artworks. And this is something of a work of art in itself. A wonderfully crafted work by a director with a forceful eye.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

An old lady gets up to dance at the wake for her late husband in Adam Berg&#39;s beautiful, very poignant promo for Happiness&#39; All Apologies.Perfectly reflecting the sensitive soundtrack, Berg piles on the emotion within the narrative as the song escalates - with soe big performances, and an anticipated but still highly effective final&nbsp;twist. And, appropriately for a film released on Valentine&#39;s Day, it is&nbsp;ultimately a testimonial to the power of love.Adam Berg&rsquo;s&nbsp;brother was instrumental in bringing his attention to the band.&nbsp;Having had a hand in writing the song, he played&nbsp;Adam the track on a road trip&nbsp;up the California coast - he was immediately blown away.&ldquo;The&nbsp;song is, in many ways, about accepting your fate so we discussed the concept of&nbsp;doing something minimalistic,&rdquo; explains Adam about initial ideas with the band.The video was shot on the back of a Mercedes job, with Berg using the same&nbsp;crew and equipment after scouting a location.&nbsp;The work was also shot on Alexa&nbsp;with anamorphic lenses to lend a cinematic feel to the tale. &ldquo;As&nbsp;we began to shoot the older couple dancing together it began to have an effect&nbsp;on the people who were there,&rdquo; says Berg,&nbsp;casting extras as the one day shoot&nbsp;progressed. &ldquo;One woman was tearing up, and I knew immediately she could play&nbsp;the daughter.&rdquo;He adds: &ldquo;I wanted everyone to simply&nbsp;react to the situation as it unfolded. I felt is was important for them to just do it without knowing what&nbsp;to do next.&rdquo;He also tweaked the image in post, creating&nbsp;slightly darker imagery to match the mood of the story. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s almost the opposite of how [a commercial] is made. It was very liberating not having a shot list,&nbsp;or having anyone&nbsp;tell us what to do. It was all about going with a gut feeling. It was&nbsp;wonderfully organic and playful in the end.&quot;
