Billy Howard Price and&nbsp;Jacek Zmarz co-direct a playfully haunting promo for rock band Creeper - with buckets of blood.&nbsp;Inspired by gothic visuals and vampire films, the video for explores the narrative of main character Mercy, an innocent yet violent girl who is revealed to be not quite what she seems."We knew from the start of this project that we’d be telling a gory vampire story; that had been the only real brief from the band going into it,"&nbsp;directors Billy &amp; Jacek mention.&nbsp;"The main challenge as we approached the shoot was finding a way of making such a story fit into the remits of our respective visual realms without it feeling too silly or pastiche."[imgtoken data:1]Switching between bloody set-pieces and&nbsp;evocative character vignettes, the video is seamlessly blended by an eccentric core performance.&nbsp;"Time has always felt like the central tenet of the Dracula story and of vampire movies as a whole; how do love, hunger and isolation playout over hundreds and hundreds of lonely years if you’re a Nosferatu,&nbsp;a creature of the night or one of the undead?" they continue.&nbsp;&nbsp;"The main conclusion we arrived at thinking about these themes was that it must ultimately be quite boring to be a vampire. So, our chief concern shooting this video became contrasting the grandiose, Gothic imagery of classic vampire movies with a more banal, dry domesticity. A bored teenager at home daydreaming about drinking blood; Harold &amp; Maude meets The Hunger. "This was a particularly fun one to make as we got to reference a lot of the movies we’d grown up watching on repeat, when we ourselves were very bored, but sadly very much mortal teenagers."

Marco Santi takes us on a quirky little journey to the sea, in his breezy promo for Mox.The video for Pampero follows a middle-aged couple who are stuck in a rut, before the husband decides&nbsp;that a holiday&nbsp;is in order - causing the wife to quite literally faint from her chair.&nbsp;What follows is an&nbsp;idiosyncratic journey to the beach, punctuated with funny, awkward moments and some very fine character acting indeed.&nbsp;The anachronistic styling and vague sense of place adds to the unusual vibe, and it feels like these holidaymakers could be from the 70's or the present day, giving it a universal, relatable appeal.&nbsp;This sense of awkward humour can be difficult to pull off - especially in music videos - yet Santi does so perfectly, using drawn-out shots of weird stares and locked-off shots to let the performances do the talking, and&nbsp;give context to the messy yet charming road trip.&nbsp;

Jacek Zmarz directs a dreamlike promo for Chartreuse, which&nbsp;sees a handful of characters each wrapped in their own mini narratives, wondering around a mysterious forest. .&nbsp;The video for Switch It On, Switch It Off is built around the central image of a parachutist who hasn't quite stuck his landing,&nbsp; presented as an interwoven montage of surreal dreamscapes, connected by a sense of whimsical wonder.&nbsp;"The video is inspired mainly by some Tarkovsky films and a little cottage that I visited a couple times as a kid," Zmarz mentions. "The image of the parachute diver was always there for me when listening to the song, and him getting carried away became the central point on which we built the rest of the video."I love the song's musical fluctuations and lyrics that sometimes felt like an internal monologue, and I wanted the video to feel like an exploration of these types of private and tender moments, things that can run away in your head until something happens in the real world and snaps you out of it."

Hora Bolz directs an impressive music film for El Perro, consisting of visuals for the tracks&nbsp;Call Me When You're Home and Let Me Think That Again.Filmed in southern Spain, the concept is a surrealist twist to the classic Sword Of Damocles story: a couple of outlaws&nbsp;whose life is controlled by destiny and anxiety&nbsp;have to make a decision, to help&nbsp;them understand the true definition of their relationship."The idea for this came hand-in-hand with the location," explains Bolz.&nbsp;"It was really important for me to create a world that felt realistic enough so the surreal elements in it felt authentic. Like when you wake up from a dream, and you need to take a moment to understand what’s going on."For me, the best part when watching a movie - or any art piece -&nbsp;is the interpretation. That’s why I wanted this music video to be like a riddle. It had to be fun for you to decipher, and for me to see what you’ve found."DoP&nbsp;Benjamin Cotgrove adds that the video was shot in extremely testing conditions. "We ended up shooting at the height of summer during 40 degree celsius heat - at times the sun was pretty unbearable," he says. "I knew shooting on 16mm the stock wouldn’t miss a beat and even with our schedule forcing us to shoot when the sun was high noon, film helped to balance the crude, raw sun on the face of our cast."We had an incredible local crew who were not unfamiliar with these conditions and knew exactly how to support us through this: keep a cooler bag ready for the film."

Four hopeful actors audition for the role of a lifetime, in&nbsp;Slane's touching promo for Rhys Lewis.&nbsp;Showing the lead up to - and the eventual fallout from - an awkward casting session, we follow the journeys of four very different characters, with Lewis taking on one of the roles.&nbsp;A flurry of chaotic poses, faux-fight scenes and strange facial expressions ensues, with none of the character getting the role. In the end, they all head out to the city as a group, and live out their superhero fantasies together.&nbsp;Comedic and heartfelt, it's a great little video that ends on an optimistic note.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;"Creating the world for&nbsp;this video&nbsp;was a lot of fun," says Slane.&nbsp;"A cast of superheroes was the key part of the brief. So I came up with four superhero characters and developed their backstories, superpowers and costumes, paying homage to Kick-Ass."Taking inspiration from 80's TV shows, Rhys and I came up with [superhero team]&nbsp;The Midnight&nbsp;and worked backwards to create this fun video of four failed audition tapes. Concept to delivery happened in record time, so big shout to Pilar at Papaya and the amazing cast and crew."

Dan French directs an emotional promo for Harlee's&nbsp;Reset, that explores love and loss in a series of evocative vignettes, featuring complex relationships and characters locked in limbo.&nbsp;Largely naturalistic&nbsp;in its approach, the video is peppered with dramatic, speed-ramped footage and experimental frame rates to change up the pace, and uses subtitles to provide context to the on-screen imagery.&nbsp;This is excellent work that tugs at the heartstrings but ends on a warm and hopeful note.&nbsp;

Harry Deadman directs a trip into an otherworldly dimension in his splendid promo for funk-pop duo Two Another.&nbsp;Riding the elevator up to the 51st floor, we see vocalist Elliot start to picture himself in a variety of weird and wonderful&nbsp;situations with the other people in the lift, including Angus, his bandmate."Angus and Elliot hit me up on Instagram last August and said they had a new single and were keen to collaborate on a video," explains Deadman. "They already had a solid idea of the kind of world they wanted to create for the video - dreamy, otherworldly and soaked in colour. Which is exactly what I love to hear!"[imgtoken data:1]The resulting video was shot against greenscreen with a flurry of visual effects to create the abstract, uncanny environments we see the artists in. Deadman worked with his Brisbane-based friend and regular collaborator Liam Blenkinsop on the VFX builds for the video, taking their creative collaboration to a new level."We met at uni and have been working together on various projects since then," says Deadman.&nbsp;"We normally do five to ten shots per video so I kind of underestimated how long this would all take. I think there was something like 185 shots to get through!"&nbsp;The time and effort has all paid off handsomely here as the slickness of the production design and VFX aligns with the energy of the performances from Two Another and two accompanying&nbsp;dancers.&nbsp;It&nbsp;acts as a wonderful introduction to viewers who might not be familiar with the dynamic duo.&nbsp;
