Iconic pop video director Diane Martel joins forces with Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos&nbsp;and Ben Cole to create the video for Billy Goodbye - taken from the Scottish rock band's forthcoming Greatest Hits album.&nbsp;The black and white concept feels&nbsp;experimental and evocative of early music videos, focusing on a group of characters who descend into a riotous party, full of bottle smashing, karaoke singalongs and melodramatic facial expressions.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Glitchy performance setups, mixed formats&nbsp;and spliced cutaways add a textural element to the concept, aesthetically feeling very much like&nbsp;home-movie segments.The randomness of the content and iconography in several of these scenes also elevates the absurdist nature of the piece.&nbsp;

Dan Cadan and Jonathan 'Scully' Mowatt's latest video for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds&nbsp;brings the French nouvelle vague&nbsp;to modern London, and as with previous work for Noel, features a big name cast: Matt Smith and Gala Gordon play the lovers in a story inspired directly by Godard's Breathless.The video for We're On Our Way Now provides a snapshot of the lives of the couple, where an ambivalence and darkness lurks under the surface of a true romance. The directors also leave enough to the viewer's imagination to try to piece together a bigger story.As with the Jean-Paul Belmondo character in Breathless, Matt Smith is mixed up with some shady goings-on - either working for, or possibly against Noel Gallagher, who features in a cameo as a gangland figure. Smith bring depth to the part and is ideally cast. Both he and Gordon - her second video for Gallagher - are both captured wonderfully in a timeless-looking London by Danish DoP&nbsp;Niels Reedtz Johansen.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

Dan Cadan and Scully bring us Christmas with a twist in their latest video for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It's like Bad Santa meets the Ken Loach version of Bonnie and Clyde, starring Stephen Graham, and Hannah Walters.Taking a narrative-led direction this time around, the directors' third video for Noel - and his first Nöel-related music video&nbsp;- is a heartfelt story of northern grit, and fighting through against sadness and hardship in&nbsp;true salt-of-the-earth style.It's the story of a mum who meets Santa whilst doing all she can to make sure her kids have gifts at Christmas. As she treads carefully around a supermarket, aware of the security guard's gaze, she picks out a few items and slips them into her bag. When the guard catches on, she needs help from her guardian Santa to help make her getaway.Then it&nbsp;becomes clear that they are like modern Robin Hoods, attempting to bring Christmas cheer where its most needed. And there's a lump in the throat twist in the end (if you hadn't already guessed it) for good measure.It's a film that packs a proper seasonal punch, full of gritty, poignant seasonal goodwill. The core is that&nbsp;palpable emotion between Santa and the single mum - not so surprising perhaps, as Graham and Walters are a real-life couple.&nbsp;You may prefer this to one those perennial tear-jerking commercials trying to sell you stuff...

Tim Fox brings his knack for colourful, impressive computer animation to modern-soul singer Bo Saris. Filming Bo on a treadmill, Tim motion-tracked his performance using Xbox Kinect - causing a bit of a moral rumpus in the process (see Tim&#39;s account below). Then he&nbsp;morphs, moulds and generally messes around with Bo&#39;s anatomy and surrounding environment to create a beautifully rendered, very bright psychedelic trip. &nbsp;It&#39;s fascinating&nbsp;and certainly eye-catching, stuff.&nbsp;
