Maxim Kelly takes South London band Tiña down the pub for a heart-to-heart and some magic realism for their single Closest Shave.&nbsp;Taken from the band's acclaimed debut album Positive Mental Health Music, Kelly matches the breezy blend of surrealism and humour in the track&nbsp;with his inventive take on a one-shot video. It's a dreamlike journey into a cinematic London, a combination of the familiar and the off-kilter, that begins in a rain-lashed car park, past the band sheltering in a doorway, and then heading into the cozy indoors of the pub.With the song describing a chat between&nbsp;lead singer&nbsp;Joshua Loftin and his dad, and lyrics describing the world as “nervous like a big dinner plate”, Kelly makes the flamboyant frontman the&nbsp;focus of proceedings, popping up in different sequences, including talking to his actual dad Rufus in the video, surreally veering into an underground walkway, before completing a pub performance with the band, to an audience of men, slow-dancing with each other.Kelly&nbsp;used various methods to create this 'one-shot' - without calling upon motion control. Lisette Donkersloot's second video for NAO - following the splendid <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/08/05/nao-messy-love-lisette-donkersloot/72248" target="_blank">Messy Love</a> - the songstress occupies another near-abstract space that reflects the sentiments of the song.For Wait, a song which is an intimate look at how mistakes grow in a relationship, we see NAO against a blacked-out background on a small floral island. Then&nbsp;her body and others become islands themselves in this space, creating landscapes as they appear in varying sizes&nbsp;and proportions.[imgtoken data:1]“For this video I wanted to&nbsp;create a landscape out of body parts," confirms Donkersloot. "Over the course of the beautifully-sung ballad the camera travels through a water surface, past several tableau of NAO&nbsp;in different scales/proportions mimicking elements of a landscape, where she will star as the mountains, the rocks, landshore and also a human on land surrounded by water.”&nbsp;After a while, the sky turns into a beautifully gradient colour and NAO emerges as all landscapes at once, creating a gorgeous surrealistic dreamscape. Another wonderful example of the director creating a graphic sensibility that is perfectly attuned to the artist and her performance. &nbsp;

Denisha Anderson directs a powerful state-of-the-nation vision of inner-city London to accompany the towering collaboration of those veterans of dance and grime, The Bug and Flowdan.The video to Pressure - the second single from The Bug's new album&nbsp;Fire&nbsp;-&nbsp;begins with an intro scene designed by Anderson to reflect the opening lyrics,&nbsp;in which we see distorted images of&nbsp;Boris Johnson and Priti Patel&nbsp;and crowds protesting,&nbsp;before cutting to Flowdan. His powerful performance is delivered against the backdrop of brutalist architecture, creating the feeling of being boxed-in within the harsh concrete setting. Eventually he takes over the screens previously monopolised by politicians and protest footage.[imgtoken data:1]Anderson intersects Flowdan's down-the-barrel performance with shots of the him and The Bug on the staircase of an inner London tower block, and&nbsp;of an urban landscape bereft of people - with the exception of two characters running away from camera, as if from an unseen threat.The video was shot across East and South London in a day, with the intense edit that follows perfectly complementing the track. The result, from the director with videos for Oscar Jerome and Wu-Lu to her credit,&nbsp;is something that feels both contemporary and timeless.[imgtoken data:2]“The claustrophobic energy was used to give space to those in estates, living upon one another and repeatedly ignored by those in power,” explains Anderson. “In choosing these locations, Flowdan becomes the voice of the people."Hence the reason for him taking over TV screens, because now is the time to listen... Lisette Donkersloot creates a gorgeously graphic combination of artist and dance performance for the triumphant return of Nao.Inspired by Infrared photography, and working with choreographer Shay Latukolan, the Dutch director builds a radiant spectrum of colour and movement around the East London songstress's compelling performance of Messy Love - an ode to self-love, self-respect and choosing peace over the never-ending struggles of a detrimental relationship.[imgtoken data:1]Donkersloot creates a little bit of magic with the combination of her&nbsp;studio staging - a series of ever-changing backdrops of sunsets in a range of colours - and the astounding dancers in their&nbsp;fantastic 'alien' mode: covered in indigo blue bodypaint and orange-coloured gravity-defying braid hair styles.&nbsp;&nbsp;The dancers perform an abstract choreography throughout the video to augment Nao's central position. They start out on the floor, then work their way up, portraying a metaphor of plants growing as they receive sunlight and water. In the end, they return to their original horizontal positions, holding on to their goddess NAO who is ready for a new circle of life.Ultimately the video reflects the theme of the song and Nao's empowering lyrics in Messy Love, about a&nbsp;relationship that’s on the rocks: "I won’t break, said I won’t change my ways not even this time”. Walid Labri pays homage to Cityboymoe's home in North West London, and the turbulence of growing up there, in his video for City On Fire.&nbsp;Opening in a residential street, overshadowed by the imposing skyline in the background, the video interweaves several refreshingly creative vignettes, touching upon life, struggle and purpose.&nbsp;Building upon the lyrics "these streets that I walk in were never made for me", the soft, ethereal aesthetic is somewhat contrasted by the poignant lyrics, yet feels optimistic in its overtones and is a perfect showcase for the artist and his journey.&nbsp;

Jade Ang Jackman directs a cyberpunk-inspired promo for Yonaka's comeback single&nbsp;Seize The Power.&nbsp;The enigmatic video opens with vocalist Theresa entombed in a glass box, performing various glitchy movements whilst a&nbsp;hesitant&nbsp;doppelgänger carefully approaches her.&nbsp;Falling somewhere stylistically between The Matrix series and Hellraiser, the aesthetic is beautifully rich and well considered, delivered via Ash Halliburton's art direction and complemented by DoP&nbsp;Kai Blamey Nguyen's use of ramped-up frame rates and night-vision style cinematography.&nbsp;The ideas of rebirth, growth and taking back control of our own lives are visualised with abstract flair, with Jade's bold direction confidently guiding the narrative to an exciting climax.“Theresa wanted to play with ideas relating to rebirth and the power that can emanate from within," explains Jade Ang Jackman.&nbsp;"Given her own strong and unique energy, together we could experiment with different moods and stages to show that journey gaining internal strength."It was super fun to work with an artist who is not afraid to show their wild or ugly side too!”&nbsp;

Jade Jackman directs an ensemble of youths "wasting time"&nbsp;in grungy claustrophobic rooms in the video for Salv Goes To Hollywood.Inspired by an article Jackman read on how business managers were making toilets in workplaces tilted to prevent employees spending too much time on them, the video also draws from Marilyn Manson's Beautiful People&nbsp;and Wong Kar-Wai's 1995 film Fallen Angels.&nbsp;Uniquely twisted in its vision, the art direction from&nbsp;Ranya El-Rafaey is superb, utilising sickly green hues and mould infested textures to create a decidedly grubby&nbsp;aesthetic. Sega's performance is suitably weird, as he spends&nbsp;a great deal of time sat on a toilet tweaking and scratching himself, infested by the contaminated environment.&nbsp;

Tyro directors Ethan Barrett and Tom Gullam provide an excellent device to capture South London rapper Flohio’s boundless energy on WAY2 -&nbsp;constantly from a few feet above her head, as we follow her cruising through her native neighbourhood.Matching the lyrics of being way too hype for anything regular anymore, the video plays with&nbsp;bold, hyperreal imagery, captured in gritty black and white. having set a high standard in her pervious videos directed by Duncan Loudon (who creative directed here), this feels like a natural progression - with a real and rare 'how did they do that?' aspect to the camerawork.Even with the camera flying above her, Flohio's performance is more confident and assured than ever. It cements her as one of the most exciting artists working in the genre today.&nbsp;&nbsp;
