The growing sense that Héloïse Letissier, aka Christine and the Queens, aka &#39;Chris&#39;, is an artist apart from all the others, marching to her own tune, is strengthened by this collaboration with Colin Solal Cardo for the video for Doesn&#39;t Matter.It begins with her lying flat out on a deserted carpark, as if she has fallen from the heights of her previous video for Girlfriend. But from that prone position, she then demonstrates her strength, sensitivity, sense of fun, and her fighting spirit, as over the next few minutes we see a relationship played out&nbsp;through choreography.Working with with dancer&nbsp;Romain Guillermic, Chris gives a performance of remarkable physicality and charisma, and unbound by traditional conventions of feminity within music videos. As Solal Cardo explains below, that was exactly the objective, and the result is genuinely groundbreaking.The video is here in&nbsp;both the English-language and French-language versions of the song.&nbsp;

Thomas Jumin&nbsp;provides this incredible piece of installation art as a companion to Justice&#39;s &#39;Randy&#39;.Shot in Paris last month, the installation sees 25 old television sets stacked in a uniform square in a dark room. Looking like an imposing, alien monolith, the structure begins beaming out some very kitsch VHS lettering but before this delves too quickly into lyric&nbsp;video territory, we&#39;re treated to some gorgeous imagery, some effortlessly synchronised displays of text and image.

Let&#39;s not mince words here: Helmi has made an incredibly brutal video and mission statement for French rapper Ichon.Fils de Pute &ndash;&nbsp;which translates as &quot;Son of a bitch&quot; &ndash; has a physical narrative that you certainly don&#39;t need to be fluent in French to follow. Based on the turbulent relations between police forces and people of colour worldwide, the video sees Ichon sat in a chair in a police station - chained to the floor. He&#39;s on the receiving end of a line of questioning that quickly escalates into something physical and violent. We watch on in horror as one cop brutalises Ichon whilst the other passively watches.&nbsp;We&#39;re reminded that this isn&#39;t fiction as we see names and pictures of young men such as&nbsp;Eric Garner and Abou Bakari Tandia, who all&nbsp;died while in police custody. And then, very suddenly and graphically, there&#39;s a twist in the tale.Masterful special effects, camerawork and fight choreography really help to sell the impact of this video. A fearsome, brilliant piece of work.

Oliver Hadlee Pearch has taken a decidedly visceral approach to his music video for&nbsp;Palace&#39;s Head Above The Water.&nbsp;Dealing with the nervy&nbsp;physicality of the&nbsp;human body and all its twitches, spasms, and other instinctive bodily processes,&nbsp;the piece effectively&nbsp;creates a hypnotic series of close-up portraits, in which&nbsp;something doesn&#39;t appear to be quite right with its&nbsp;subjects.Insisting on suffocating&nbsp;imagery such as&nbsp;a human statue in a bag being sucked of its air, and a&nbsp;man laid out on a table struggling to breathe, it&#39;s&nbsp;pairing with the sleepy, somewhat melancholic&nbsp;melodies of Head Above The Water&nbsp;makes for an the existential watch, reminding us of our fleshy, corporeal&nbsp;impermanence.&nbsp;&ldquo;When you are swept up by a wave, you are caught underwater, not knowing which way is up or down, left or right. This was sort of the starting point for this video. This idea of confusion. Concussion even,&quot; Oliver told&nbsp;Noisey, where the video was premiered last week.&nbsp;&quot;Dreams played a big part in this film. How many different scenes can sit side by side harmoniously. I wanted to try and create mini-narratives which all lead the same way yet are completely removed from each other. Tied together. Across the video we want the audience to be hypnotized, drawn in yet not knowing why or how.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Palace 'Head Above The Water' by Oliver Hadlee Pearch

Megaforce&#39;s video for Brodinski ft SD&#39;s Can&#39;t Help Myself instantly draws you in with its deeply cinematic opening of a near-naked late middle-aged man walking through a&nbsp;deserted sub-city road&nbsp;tunnel. It&#39;s a hell of an opening shot as the camera speeds towards him.&nbsp;And in the French directing quartet&#39;s first video since&nbsp;the string of mighty vids, for Dizzee Rascal, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Is Tropical, that led them to win best director at last year&#39;s UKMVAs, the pace never slackens.&nbsp;But from the moment the man goes through a transformative process (as he smokes, drinks and eyes some diamond rings on his TV)&nbsp;that turns him into a younger man &ndash; who then heads for the same tunnel &ndash; we are invited to ponder what appears to be the premise: if you had the chance to go back, and do it all over again,&nbsp;would you do better - or would just repeat the same mistakes?&nbsp;&nbsp;
