Architects' founder and drummer Dan Searle takes up the director's reins once again -&nbsp;after his excellent video for Animals - for a terrific performance video achieved in a single take.&nbsp;The premise is pretty simple:&nbsp;Architects&nbsp;are captured playing When We Were Young on a camera constantly moving around them on a circular track. It's the faultless execution that elevates the idea to the next level.With a low-key intro before the band explode into action, and a great lighting set-up to highlight the mood, the camera revolves around a pulsating performance by the band where Architects' frontman Sam Carter is always the focus of attention, the centre point in the circle the whole time.Beautifully shot by Thomas English, this is a really excellent&nbsp;performance video. The band's drummer really knows what he's doing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

French-Cuban sister duo Ibeyi scale the desert with Jorja Smith, in&nbsp;Lucrecia Taormina's captivating promo for Lavender and Red Roses.&nbsp;We see the artists trek through the midst of a sandy landscape, following the line of a rope to a well in the middle of the desert. They pour a jug full of lavender and red rose petals into the well - where, at the bottom a&nbsp;mysterious masked man digs further downwards.&nbsp;Arguably this&nbsp;abstract narrative explores themes of femininity and divine energy, suggesting it is time to 'cut the cord', and stop relying on women to pull up men who are not actively helping themselves or looking for ways to improve their own situation. But&nbsp;the&nbsp;beauty of the visual, the magic of Taormina' concept,&nbsp;lies in the various ways in which to read the unfolding action.[imgtoken data:1]Taormina weaves this ambiguous and metaphorical&nbsp;tale in her characteristic&nbsp;hyperreal style - not in a real desert, we suspect, but a very convincing studio and VFX-created approximation of one. A certain episode of&nbsp;Squid Game&nbsp;may also springs to mind while watching this too.[imgtoken data:2]Once distracted by the petals, the man stops digging, and grabs the rope.&nbsp;Initially, the women&nbsp;pull with all their strength, to help&nbsp;him to climb up, but... then the rope is cut.[imgtoken data:3]

Brock Neal Roberts directs a chilling black comedy about urban youth in his latest collaboration with&nbsp;Jeshi.The video for Generation, the rapper's pin-sharp critique of a troubled society,&nbsp;explores the complex issues facing the youth of today - from drugs to violence&nbsp;to&nbsp;an unhealthy reliance on digital technology -&nbsp;cleverly encapsulated in a fly-on-the-wall aesthetic.&nbsp;From a vantage point high above the ground, the camera settles on a series of&nbsp;unfolding narratives, before quickly panning away and seeking out the next moment, involving one or more early-teen boy engaged in activities more usually associated with young men, or to Jeshi himself as on-the-spot commentator.[imgtoken data:1]The concept is lived out by a group of young boys, who light cigarettes for strangers, throw&nbsp;rocks at takeaway food delivery riders&nbsp;and ignore parents whilst engrossed in their phones.The cyclical nature of the concept is cleverly rounded off in the end scene, where the boys begin to throw rocks at a random neighbour's house, and the perspective switches from third person to first person, proving that we aren't only witnesses to the problems facing society, but very much a part of the tapestry.&nbsp;

Fasten your seatbelts as Eoin Glaister takes a traumatised young girl into the world's weirdest order of nuns - born to worship and trained to kill - for Carnage.Papi Gordo,&nbsp;aka DJ and producer Carnage has undergone a kind of soul revival. He took a hiatus in late 2018 to do a little soul searching in the mountains of Central America and Asia, and after four months, he's re-emerged with his third single of the year, Holy Moly. And&nbsp;the main character of Glaister's video (played by&nbsp; undergoes her own strange soul search - but this one begins and ends with blood.Holy Moly&nbsp;is a wild three-and-a-half-minute ride with all the highly-produced trappings of a classic horror&nbsp;film. Complete with hyper-violence and brawling women of the cloth, there are unmistakeable touches of Dario Argento, while the plot vaguely mirrors that of the fictional-film 'Blood Sister: One Tough Nun', from David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest. Maybe that's what Carnage was up to while he was out there finding his inner voice?It's funny, it's horrifying, it's definitely worth a watch.&nbsp;
