Lovelife wanted something completely different to their previous style and aesthetic so turned to Frederick Lloyd for this dark, brooding promo to partner the equally brooding and claustrophobic Your New Beloved.
"With the nature of the video and its instrumentation I felt what was needed was some sexual charge with voyeuristic, dark undertones of lust and death" says Frederick, "whilst of course keeping it surreal and abstract and delivering the band in a new light".

Daniel Brereton headed down to the Elephant &amp; Castle shopping centre in South London with Swim Deep - a young band harking back to late 80s bagginess, right down to the centre partings - together with an appealing group of extras and super-fans to make the video for The Sea - and achieving an easygoing, happy mood worthy of the second Summer of Love.... 
"The idea stemmed from photos I had seen of the band making the rock horns sign with their hands," Daniel explains. "I thought it would be fun to base a video around people doing the "horns", and getting lots of characters and unlikely people to do it, like babies and grandmas. So I wrote this as a treatment but then as the idea developed I thought that it was better to broaden it out a bit. So the idea is basically people having fun and expressing themselves. It's a bit like the message within Swim Deep's music.
"Emile Rafael (Producer) and Jon Mealing (PM) assembled a bunch of fun extras, including a karate expert, a dance troupe from Wales, a baby, a grandad and tonnes of the bands fans and friends, and we descended upon Elephant and Castle shopping centre to have fun. For me this location is a character in itself, and it was a privilege to be able to shoot inside, and also pretty much do what we want. 
"I also wanted everything to have a considered look to it, so shots were composed symmetrically. The clean lines and concourses of the shopping centre were great for this, but so was the chaos and characters that we met whilst we were there. Then Jo Apps did a great job of making the edit really easy and rhythmical, and we finished it off with a really dreamy grade at Rushes with Jack McGinity."

Joe Dixon from directing team Tim &amp; Joe has made a very touching video for Texan band Black Books&rsquo; song The Big Idea &ndash; featured on the TV show&nbsp;Californication&nbsp;&ndash; in which Joe cast his father David Dixon as a man who finds a new companion in unconventional fashion: he draws her on his hand.It&rsquo;s an idea that&rsquo;s delivered with sincerity, and that&rsquo;s made possible by the sensitivity of the direction and performance. Ultimately this is about grief, and one man&rsquo;s way of dealing with it. And if David Dixon looks familiar to you &ndash; yes, he played Ford Prefect in the classic early 80s TV version of&nbsp;Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy&hellip;&ldquo;The band contacted us out of the blue and we just loved the song too much to turn it down,&rdquo; says Joe. I decided to make it with long time collaborator/lifetime father David Dixon and wrote an odd little story for him. It really lives (or dies) on the integrity of his performance, hopefully for us it&rsquo;s the latter.&ldquo;I just want to thank everyone who helped out along the way, especially Joe and Katy who designed the gorgeous Bette as she became known, as well as (far more than just a) DOP, Marcus Autelli. This is his first DPing job in the UK which I think is quite remarkable. He&rsquo;s got a bright future.&rdquo;

But the beautiful cinematography by Linus Sandgren becomes progressively degraded, and the psychological darkness slowly comes to the surface... Just following in a tradition of great, unsettling Trent Reznor videos.

Everything Everything return with a new song Cough Cough and the band's singer/guitarist Jonathan Higgs (aka Jon Everything) has taken up the directing reins once again - aided and abetted by producer Phil Tidy. But the playful, colourful approach of the likes of <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/11/17/everything-everything%E2%80%99s-photoshop-handsome-by-jon-everything/" target="_blank">Photoshop Handsome</a> has been replaced by a political edge: the band take up the sticks of Japanese Taiko drummers, cut with abstract shots of oil floating in water and footage from last year's London riots. 
"The song is about greed and wealth and I wanted a symbol for that, so I chose crude oil," Jon Everything explains. "I wanted us covered in it, consuming it, setting it on fire, everything. I was inspired by the riots last summer, hearing stories from those who were on both sides, and watching it from my window. And I saw a video of some Japanese Taiko drummers a few years ago and I was struck by the intensity and simplicity of those massive drums. 
"As our first song back in two years I chose a monochrome look, to keep things more bold and focused compared to our multicoloured past. I used a few clips from the riots, as well as a load of homemade footage of treacle and oil I filmed on my phone, and cut-out words to get the DIY look I was after. The video is supposed to get across the anger and frustration of the riots, as well as the confusion and sense of having no purpose or future."

Ethan Lader delivers his promo for The Script's Hall Of Fame which sees the Irish rockers form an unlikely pairing with Will.i.am. The band's Danny O'Donoghue met the Black Eyed Pea on the set of UK TV show The Voice, on which they both star.
Taken from their new album #3 (September 10), Lader's promo sees the band performing in an empty warehouse with an additional narrative involving two characters - a ballet dancer and a boxer - both striving against the odds to achieve greatness in their fields.

Shot in one complete take - in reverse, Lilah Vandenburgh's triumphant, energetic and entertaining promo for Amy Can Flyy captures the band at their raucous best. 
"The video is a black and white one-take with no edits, shot on location in a small fetish club in Limehouse," explains Lilah. "They, as well as their fans, have grown up a bit since their last EP and wanted to showcase an edgier, more mature sound and look. 
"I wanted something that combined the polish of a performance video with the energy and fun of an amateur lipdub. To that end, we mixed professional performers with some hardcore ACF fans we recruited off Facebook. It was shot by DoP Brian Fawcett on a Canon C-300 with not much more than a single ring light. 
"The video was very low budget and the awesome crew all went above and beyond, including production designer Laura Tarrant-Brown, choreographer Mina Aidoo and stylist Lara Jensen. I should also mention, the entire video is backwards. But it's so subtle and the lead singer Ben does such a good job with lipsynching most people don't even notice until they've watched a couple times. And unlike most backwards videos, it's uptempo and has no cuts, so it was a unique challenge. 
"Everyone, including extras and dancers also had to learn the chorus backwards as well. We did this all remotely, using a series of training videos I posted on Youtube over the course of a month. Meaning I also had to learn both lead and backing parts in reverse phonetically to teach to everyone else. Hopefully it ended up looking really easy and seamless (but it was anything but!)."
