Gallant's latest video has real legs. Bennett Johnson directs this clever piece of choreography, in which Gallant tries to escape a sharp-heeled femme fatale. The&nbsp;twist being that we only see either of them&nbsp;from the thigh down.Ever heard of the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/science/head-quarters/2016/sep/19/the-thatcher-illusion-are-faces-special">Thatcher Illusion</a>? Try staring into your friend's eyes, upside-down, for more than a minute. More likely than not, your brain will begin to compensate, and start seeing a horrifying inverted 'correct'&nbsp;face with a forehead for a chin. Well, there’s a moment as you’re watching Sharpest Edges where you stop seeing cropped humans. And you&nbsp;start seeing anthropomorphic pairs of legs with personalities, fears and dreams.&nbsp;The trick is pretty spectacular. A&nbsp;potent reminder that there is still room for experimentation in the most obvious of places.

The song demanded it, so&nbsp;Ben Falk, Kano and their DoP Tom Turley travelled the length and breadth&nbsp;of his home country&nbsp;on a five-day, 1000-plus mile road trip,&nbsp;to&nbsp;bring Kano&#39;s rich portrait that is This Is England to vibrant life.From Land&#39;s End to Hadrian&#39;s Wall &ndash; via&nbsp;East London, Cheddar&nbsp;Gorge,&nbsp;Liverpool,&nbsp;Blackpool and Newcastle &ndash; the video sets Kano&#39;s&nbsp;impassioned performance in England as he sees it: the pubs, arcades, raves, trailer parks, caffs,&nbsp;sea shores, tea houses, football pitches, dog races, graffiti, train journeys, and much more.Then editor Ryan Beck had the challenging task of turning the documentary footage into a music video, and has done an excellent job.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lit only by the glow of moonlight, street lamps&nbsp;and neon signs - and photographed by Lol Crawley BSC &ndash; the darkly-toned video captures&nbsp;all kinds of goings-on only to be witnessed at night-time...&quot;The video is made up of 25+ hours of documentary-style footage, as it was important to make the video feel authentic as possible,&quot; explains Elliott Power. &quot;A lot of the shots are by chance, simply being in the right place at the right time. Our loose reference points were a handful of great British music videos from the 90&#39;s, Scorsese&#39;s Taxi Driver and Michael Mann&#39;s Collateral.&quot;Toby wanted a nonchalant performance to contrast with the fast moving pace of a Dystopian London. A serene, contemplative Karen O sings quietly about&nbsp;despair&nbsp;in some anonymous dive bar underneath a tired disco ball. Nick Zinner, tranquil, looks out from a yellow cab while Brian Chase nearly falls asleep on the subway.This is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Back in New York City. Back on their home turf. And director Patrick Daughters catches the band at this one magnificent moment, when we all realise they&#39;re now as much a part of indie rock&#39;s foundation as the Empire State Building is of America.And so, the three assembled atop the Empire State, like they&#39;ve heeded a sonic call to arms. Nick&#39;s guitar reverberates from America&#39;s crown jewel at a dizzying 1,224 feet and you can almost feel it shuddering through the city. As a matter of fact, they played their instruments live during the shoot, letting those powerful gusts of wind quite literally carry every drum beat and chord over New York at dawn.This is their journey. From obscure art-rockers holding the attention of small dive bar crowds over a decade ago, to being the first band ever to shoot a video on top of this truly iconic landmark.
