He charts the classic stages of a relationship, from beginning to end, through a&nbsp;cast of characters who all share a common distinguishing&nbsp;feature.Dirty Projectors&#39; song Up In Hudson is a personal story. Rabinovitch and his associate director&nbsp;Isaiah Saxon have opened it out, and added the magic and fantasy, and brilliant colour palette, of which their creative collective are rightly renowned. Recognisable modern settings become the domain where the characters (the descendants of characters from The Hobbit?)&nbsp;find and enjoy, stumble and lose love, and then find themselves.Every shot is imbued with the familiar EP pink and blue-hued superreal look, and each stage brings new wonders - none less than the brilliant final sequence, at a busy intersection in Manhattan.

Room for one more great video in 2014? Following their long-awaited return with Metronomy&#39;s The Upsetter last month, the comeback of Encyclopedia Pictura gathers momentum with their new video for Panda Bear&#39;s mesmerising Boys Latin, and this time it&#39;s the collective&#39;s&nbsp;Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch turn to approach EP&#39;s&nbsp;favourite themes.The inspiration, as with much of their work, is&nbsp;the wonder of nature, and then turning it into something mind-bendingly fantastical. But Isaiah and Sean have taken an entirely&nbsp;fresh approach to this project:&nbsp;it&#39;s their&nbsp;first fully-animated video.This is a&nbsp;seashore adventure that has its characters go through sudden, radical and scary physical changes&nbsp;when they come in contact with mysterious aqueous fauna. So with&nbsp;the Metronomy video&nbsp;- directed by&nbsp;Darren Rabinovitch - displaying EP&#39;s remarkable talents for in-camera effects via costume design and art direction, this one&nbsp;focusses on their equally amazing talents for post work and animation.Another beautiful, jawdropping visual treat - and, of course,&nbsp;no less Encyclopedia Pictura.&nbsp;Definitely another (and perhaps the last)&nbsp;great video for 2014...&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

More than six years since they created their epic 3D video for Bjork&#39;s Wanderlust - the winner of Video of the Year at the first UK Music Video Awards in 2008 - to be followed by a long haitus from filmmaking, Encyclopedia Pictura are back.&nbsp;The directing collective, known for the&nbsp;extraordinary&nbsp;nature-based surrealism in videos for&nbsp;Grizzly Bear, Seventeen Evergreen and others, have returned to make the video for Metronomy&#39;s The Upsetter, with Daren Rabinovitch at the helm. Daren has also created the astonishing costumes in the video (their making is documented in the BTS film linked below), that sees the creation of one character, a sort of human sloth, to the transformation of the other, as a forest woman starts to incorporate the&nbsp;forest in her body.Essentially this is a&nbsp;love story,&nbsp;about the woman (possibly from&nbsp;civilisation who has been lost in the forest for years and grown a beard)&nbsp;who in her solitude creates a companion&nbsp;of grass and earth on the ground. Then, as her loneliness overcomes her, she brings the grass creature to life.The level of vision and ambition is there, as before, and the physical development of the characters is extraordinary. And Daren&nbsp;Rabinovitch&#39;s direction adds&nbsp;a level of warmth&nbsp;and poignancy to EP&#39;s trademark visionary style and&nbsp;themes.
