Mat Whitecross returns to music videos with this&nbsp;gently quirky&nbsp;promo for Smith &amp; Burrows.The duo, made up of Andy&nbsp;Burrows, formerly of Razorlight, and Editors' Tom&nbsp;Smith, are each shown walking through Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath, being observed on their way by otherworldly puppets, watching&nbsp;from hidden vantage points.&nbsp;Building to a great crescendo, the pair happen across a huge group of these creatures, who have gathered to hear the duo perform in the middle of the forest.&nbsp;It's a true feat, and the puppets - care of the famous Little Angel Theatre in Islington, North London - are wonderfully designed; a combination of fairy tale beasts and acid-trip hallucinations.&nbsp;

Coldplay invite viewers to experience their unique behind the scenes process in Orphans, directed by Mat Whitecross.&nbsp;As the video starts, a series of words in a traditional printing press font jump onto screen. "And then you can do a boom ka. Like boom boom ka".&nbsp;A child's voice narrates the words as Chris Martin&nbsp;suggests a new drum beat, in a raw and candid voice clip. We are then immediately thrust into a low-res black and white shot of Martin performing on a stage, barely visible amongst the grit and grain of the camera.&nbsp;As the visual continues, we see Martin play&nbsp;the guitar outside a train station, and then perform in an outdoor setting with the band, as overlays of emails from across the production process flash onto screen. This unique mix of BTS material and lo-fi performance is a world away from the big budget spectacles Coldplay are known for - but this could be their most intimate and exciting video yet.&nbsp;The latter half of Orphans is more concept-based, as the band perform in a derelict room with subtle art direction and a group of enthusiastic fans. A scattering of VFX overlays, including flowers, birds and animated words add a colourful jolt of energy to proceedings, right up to a climactic end scene.&nbsp;Jumping off the walls and sliding across the ceiling, this surreal ending is a testament to a band and director who aren't afraid to throw away the rulebook and delve into the avant-garde. Exciting and unexpected, Coldplay fans far and wide are going to love this.&nbsp;

Coldplay&#39;s first music video from their new&nbsp;album, A Head Full Of Dreams&nbsp;(out on December 4th) sees the band reimagined as chimps, thanks to the performance-capture technology pioneered at Imaginarium Studios (co-founded by actor Andy Serkis), and turned into a fun-loving performance video by the band&#39;s longtime collaborator Mat Whitecross - who also directed Serkis in the Ian Dury biopic Sex &amp; Drugs &amp; Rock N Roll.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The idea for the video for Adventure Of A&nbsp;Lifetime began when Coldplay&#39;s Chris Martin and Andy Serkis met by chance on a flight. &quot;I was delighted to hear that [Chris] often worked Mat Whitecross, who&rsquo;d been convincing him that Performance Capture was the best medium for the next Coldplay video,&quot; says Serkis. &quot;Within no time at all, we were jumping and climbing around the studio, bringing out our inner apes.&quot; &nbsp;This was a studio shoot with the four members of&nbsp;Coldplay&nbsp;in full performance capture rigs. That&nbsp;was just the start of a process that&nbsp;took several months to complete, with Paris post production&nbsp;house Mathematic carrying out extensive VFX work&nbsp;- over 50 CG animators and designers worked on the project &ndash; plus the active participation of the Beats brand, who have also cut a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ7yM9GrZew&amp;feature=youtu.be" target="_blank">30 second ad</a> for their Pill speaker from the full video.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&quot;The video is nearly five minutes long, and comprises of over 100 shots, all of which feature at least one chimp, and therefore required extensive animation, and fur dynamics,&quot; explains producer Hannah Clark.&nbsp;&quot;As creatures to animate go, chimps are one of the more difficult. Not only are they quite human in their movement, but they are covered in hair. Add to this that we had no backgrounds shot, and we were asking an awful lot of any post collaborator. The Imaginarium and Mathematic did a fantastic job of leading Mat and I through unknown territory.&quot;The result is a gorgeously visual and fun-loving video which sees the four Coldplay chimps enjoying an &#39;Adventure of a lifetime&#39; as they discover music.&nbsp;Andy Serkis adds: &quot;We are delighted to have worked with the band on this and now are thrilled to share the finished video with music fans worldwide.&rdquo;

For Colplay's Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall from their yet untitled fifth album, Mat Whitecross' third promo for the band is this exciting stop motion, graffiti-splattering gem. 
Mat explains that this was a production that grew out of a fairly simple idea - but then became a lot more complicated: 
"A few weeks ago, the band were doing a photo shoot over at Millennium Mills with Bristol-based graffiti artist Paris, and our photographer mate Sarah Lee. They asked if I'd mind dropping by with a film camera so we could mess around in between set ups.
"Looking at the beautiful artwork Paris and the band were creating on the walls, Chris thought maybe we should just shoot the video for the new single there and then, with him walking through the building and the camera whipping between band and graffiti.
"Never having done it before, I stupidly suggested we come back another day and animate the graffiti using stop motion - so me and Paris shot some test footage that night with a stills camera to show the band how it might look. They were into it straight away, but it wasn't till they gave the go ahead for the video that we realised quite how much work it would involve.
"As usual, what was supposed to be a really simple idea escalated and escalated - and we ended up putting band, crew and artists through hell and back - as well as gallons of paint - to hit the post-Glastonbury deadline, but it was more than worth it. I now have nothing but respect and admiration for animators worldwide - and absolutely no idea how they find the patience and stamina to put together features this way".

Emil Nava follows his excellent work with <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2011/04/19/jessie-js-nobodys-perfect-by-emil-nava/" target="_blank">Jessie J</a> with this 'trashy' gem for electropopper Frankmusik's first single from his second album Do It In The AM (September 25th). 
Translating the energy of the track with a fast-paced and multi-edited shoot, the promo was filmed in and around Los Angeles oscillating between the scorched dusty hills and the city below.

Sam Pilling does a great job of translating the lazy, half-tempo dubstep of Distance's Falling with this slow-mo/vari-speed breakdance promo with a brilliant performance from Stephan Milhache.
"I really liked the hypnotic quality of the track and as soon as I listened to it, I could just see this mesmerizing image of a dancer moving in slow motion" explains Pilling.
"It was my first time shooting with a Phantom and there were several ?difficulties on the day - mainly that the weather was not on our side, so we didn't have as much natural light to help us out as we had hoped. However, Dave Miller our DOP did a sterling job and after spending the morning stringing up the lights to the main roof (to mimic sunlight) we were away...
"Stefan, our dancer simply nailed the moves, again and again and again... It ?was a pleasure to watch him fly through the air all day. In fact it seemed he never got tired
"Everyone worked really hard, with a special thank you to Denny @ Rushes for ?doing such a nice job on the grade".

Newly signed to Pulse Films, directing duo Kate Moross and Hans Lo mark their debut for the company with this distinctive multi-coloured, glorious, squelchy mess of a promo for the indie swirl of Alpines' Ice And Arrows. 
"It was important to us to create the perfect visual accompaniment to Alpines' Ice and Arrows," explains Kate. "As a studio we are always keen to find new processes to generate moving image. Working with the band's references we developed the idea of creating the entire music video under a microscope, and then introducing a layer of performance that worked in harmony with the colour and movement of the footage.
