A spacecraft crashlands in an icy expanse and Kun emerges to forge an unlikely partnership in a video by Folkert Verdoorn and Simon Becks that would give any classic scene in Star Wars&nbsp;you care to mention&nbsp;a run for it's money.Shot in Langjökull Glacier in Iceland, Verdoorn and Becks's&nbsp;video for the Chinese singer and actor's&nbsp;Colder is both sci-fi action adventure and unexpected love story, delivered with top-notch cinematic ambition. With great cinematography from Daniel Bouquet and excellent steampunk-adjacent production design it comes with the directors' signature visual style on displlay in their previous videos for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2025/01/21/cero-ismael-driving-round-looking-unknown-folkert-verdoorn-simon-becks/89745" target="_blank">Cero Ismael</a> and the recent Punk Rocky for ASAP Rocky.Kun meets his partner - a sentient snowperson. They advance through the frozen wastes, tracked by heavily-armed enemies. But arguably the most important character is the remarkable setting. You get a sense of its power in affecting what is happening in every carefully composed shot. It contributes massively to the impact of the song and&nbsp;to the ultimately heartbreaking story, as Kun is forced to make a decision between love and living.Colder may not have been quite as cold as it looks - if it was, how could they have made this?&nbsp;But this is a fantastic achievement nonetheless.&nbsp;&nbsp;It could be the best music video so far this year. Award-winning visual artist Juliet Klottrup directs a tender and heartwarming promo for Tom Misch's comeback track Sisters With Me.&nbsp;Filmed in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, the film is a celebration of family and relationships, documenting a series of real-life sisters, siblings and friends.&nbsp;Shot in an&nbsp;documentary fashion, the visual is anchored by portraiture and snapshots of real lives, following the style of&nbsp;Klottrup's previous work, including her photography&nbsp;of rural communities and her short films Travelling Home and Youth Of The Rural North.This is lovely work with Klottrup's humane and sympathetic vision&nbsp;perfectly representing the lyrics and feel of Misch's song.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]&nbsp;

Folkert Verdoorn, Simon Becks and A$AP Rocky&nbsp;himself direct a star-studded promo for the rapper's lead-off track from his first album in eight years.&nbsp;The video fir Punk Rocky is a slice of suburban surrealism, featuring Winona Ryder as an adoring neighbour to punk-styled Rocky and his pogoing pals - &nbsp;also featuring a stream of cameos, including&nbsp;from Thundercat, A$AP Nast, the Williams Twins&nbsp;and a ripped Danny Elfman on drums.&nbsp;In the madcap narrative that unfolds, Rocky and his buddies run up against the law and Ryder's grotesquely pumped-up, super-angry&nbsp;husband.&nbsp;Treading the line between body horror, action film and dark comedy, it's an feverish amalgam of different inspirations, coming together to form something immediately iconic and exciting.&nbsp;A week into January, and if this is a sign of things to come in 2026, it's going to be a memorable year for music videos.&nbsp;

Amaarae surrounds herself with a fleet of taxis in another video by Omar Jones shot in the Ghanaian capital Accra.Following the video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2025/07/02/amaarae-smo-omar-jones/91661" target="_blank">S.M.O</a>, that was focussed with body image framed within the setting of the African city, the video for Free The Youth adds a level of documentary observation of the local people to widescreen performance set-ups.Amaarae is captured in long shot within the spiral of taxicabs, and also standing atop the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Star_Gate">Black Star Gate</a> monument in the middle of Accra, that&nbsp;commemorates Ghana's independence from colonial rule - and also inspired the title of Amaarae's current album, Black Star.

But Billy King's video for Billie Holiday still comes as a surprise: Ants is playing the bad guy.King's video is a fast-moving modern tale of pop stardom that's sparked by an unscrupulous act, when Ants effectively steals a&nbsp;dance routine sent to him by a young fan on social media. Then he gets to work in making the&nbsp;routine for Billie Holiday go viral.After several previous collaborations with Ants, including directing the <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2024/01/13/antslive-cutlery-billy-king/89625" target="_blank">UKMVA-winning Cutlery</a>, Billy King is placing Ants in a different space. There's an element of satire about the craziness of the pop music game. Fa &amp; Fon have directed six new visualisers as part of the visual album release of JADE's debut solo album That's Showbiz Baby!, each one translating the singer's sound into playful, cinematic worlds, delivered in the directing duo's signature style.The new arrivals fit perfectly into the manically satirical sensibility established by previous acclaimed videos for the album, including the twin&nbsp;sisters' previous collaborations with ex-Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall, for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRZjuaGugiQ" target="_blank">Midnight Cowboy</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO6vYic0TyA" target="_blank">IT Girl</a> - all featured on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmsj0TFyegc" target="_blank">the visual album</a>. And its funny - including the generally unflattering chat feed.[vidtoken data:5]JADE is very good in this one - as she is in all of them - and it arguably acts as a microcosm of the whole album campaign. It also exemplifies what a fine job that Fa &amp; Fon have done too in this ambitious and very impressive project.
