Rodrigo Inada, now working as a solo director, directs an extraordinary vision&nbsp;for Celeste, creating a world around the singer that's just as dramatic as&nbsp;her talent deserves.For the video for On With The Show, Celeste is a showgirl&nbsp;in an abstract, dreamlike version of a bygone age, trapped by her own persona, represented by the simple yet effective device of a life-like mask.Inada has created a complete vision - a forbidding world of shadows and light, brilliantly staged - from which the singer seeks&nbsp;to escape. And I wanted to explore that on this video, what if one day your reflection just decided they don’t wanna be there for you anymore? "I just felt this story was speaking to me a lot in a way -&nbsp;that sometimes its just so easy to grasp on so many things in life but yourself -&nbsp;and it was really special collaborating with Celeste because for her this song was also about breaking free from expectations and performatic acts, and rather been yourself.[imgtoken data:2]"This video was really special for me, because I finally got to work and collaborate with really amazing and talented friends. It was amazing and special that I finally got to work with [EP] Jean Mougin, and reunited with one of my favourite producers Chris Murdoch. Niall Trask teams up once again with indie music's oddest character Jim E. Brown for their most extraordinary collaboration yet - an AI-enhanced reworking of Batman Forever.It's the video for the self-styled Mancunian miserablist's idiosyncratic take on Seal's Kiss From A Rose,&nbsp;which appeared on the 1992 movie's&nbsp;soundtrack. That's the jumping-off point for a striking&nbsp;visual collision of two worlds, as Brown becomes a Dark Knight in his own image, within a distorted version of the original&nbsp;movie.It's weird, funny, and eerily effective - with some quite remarkable images of Brown as the lager-swilling Caped Crusader (and several other characters).&nbsp;Although listening to Brown's pub singer version of the song is a something of an acquired taste. Not sure if Seal will enjoy it so much."The video imagines a Batman universe in which there is less physical movement and more drinking of beer and consuming of fish and chips and pints of beer at pub," says Jim E. Brown.&nbsp;"We filmed the video on the banks of the Thames in London where I saw several nitrous oxide tanks washed ashore. Filming videos is rather laborious and I wanted very much to imbibe nitrous whilst shooting, but the tanks were empty. Once we finished shooting, I did get ahold of some nitrous and beer and got properly pissed and passed out."

For the returning Maribou State, Brazilian filmmaker&nbsp;Giordano Maestrelli tells a story of lost love by employing some of the oldest techniques in cinema within a bold new structure.&nbsp;The subject of the film for All I Need is the complexity of a broken relationship, told through parallel timelines. At the centre of the story is a couple - their past life unfolds through fragments and the present plays out in the background where their lost love echoes. And&nbsp;to allow the flashback story of the couple's love affair to coexist within the present, Maestrelli&nbsp;built a custom zoetrope device inspired by early motion picture pioneer&nbsp;Eadweard Muybridge.In this meticulous undertaking the director first shot the story on 16mm film, then printed into more than 2500 still frames, and re-sequenced it through the custom circular machine in a stop-motion-like technique. Shooting over 23 hours, thousands of delicate frames were replaced one by one while a crew member manually turned the machine at a millimetric degree, and another captured the action.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;The zoetrope enables one narrative to take place inside a contained, looping environment, which set out to resemble the way unprocessed emotions often linger. Meanwhile, behind it, the same setting appears as a ghostly representation of what is no more.&nbsp;With a visual language rooted in early cinema but a vision firmly fixed on today’s music video aesthetics,&nbsp;All I Need&nbsp;is a technically-daring love letter for the song that&nbsp;features on Maribou State’s latest album&nbsp;Hallucinating Love, their first since a multiple-year long hiatus following bandmember Chris Davids’ rare and debilitating brain illness.&nbsp;The result is a mesmerising and haunting&nbsp;blend of cinematic craftsmanship, memories and emotion.

Wolf Alice return with their first new music in three years and a video to defy expectations from Colin Solal Cardo - a musical theatre showstopper, inspired by Bob Fosse, choreographed by Ryan Heffington.In the video for Bloom Baby Bloom, Solal Cardo sets the band's full-on rock 'n roll performance of the lead-off track from new album The Clearing within a dance rehearsal studio packed with dancers. From the maelstrom of bodies and activity, lead singer Ellie Rowsell emerges as both rock band frontwoman and integrated member of the 20 strong company of dancers.[imgtoken data:1]The result is sensational - a relatively straightforward set-up that's orchestrated to perfection by Solal Cardo and his choreographer-accomplice&nbsp;Heffington, through colour, movement and sheer personality. And as the band move into serious rock territory with the track, this is an adrenalin-shot of a visual&nbsp;that feels counter-intuitive - and a triumph.The influences are clear - particularly the Bob Fosse biopic (in all but name) All That Jazz and his various contributions to musicals. There's also the nods to various Fosse-influenced productions in the 70s that brought rock music together with the musical, including Fame.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]Ultimately, Colin Solal Cardo&nbsp;and Ryan Heffington have paid due homage but also made the Wolf Alice completely fresh.They have brought together&nbsp;are a&nbsp;cast of dancers who offer individual personality as well as collective brilliance&nbsp;to the piece. And above all it's the performance by the now raven-haired Ellie Rowsell&nbsp;that is a revelation. That's five stars. A very exciting&nbsp;introduction to the new album.&nbsp;

"Her presence is something you can't quite put simple words to... magnetic and present like an otherworldly essence. And when I heard Back To Me it plunged me into that beautiful liminal space. Katie Lambert directs a delightful romantic fantasy for the return of electro-pop artist Shura.&nbsp;In the video for World's Worst Girlfriend, Shura is at home in her pjs,&nbsp;playing Warhammer and very much in her own world. She's not paying much attention to her long-suffering girlfriend - but she dreams of doing much better.Lambert sends Shura out&nbsp;of her everyday domestic setting, into her dreamscape: a Warhammer-inspired world where&nbsp;she is a somewhat hapless medieval knight,&nbsp;battling through the forest all in the name of saving her fair lady.[imgtoken data:1]It's a device that works wonderfully&nbsp;well: the blue-tinged knight's world is as convincing as the modern world - the budget is clearly all on the screen - with a lovely&nbsp;performance from Shura in her role as a very imperfect partner-cum-determined heroic figure.&nbsp;Really nice work from an all-female team, led by Lambert who is now really finding her feet as a director. She unapologetically&nbsp;embraces a proper feelgood ending, a Happy Ever After - which&nbsp;makes you want to watch it again.

Viagra Boys' Sebastian Murphy has a new girlfriend, and she's 3000 years old, in Eoin Glaister's video for Bog Body - a tour de force of comedy horror.&nbsp;Glaister essentially tells the story of the song, and as he happily admits, the subject matter&nbsp;plays to his particularly strengths as a director.In classic VB fashion, the track combines surly rock 'n roll power with a idiosyncratic lyric sung by Murphy - it involves a description&nbsp;of an ancient body being found perfectly preserved under ice in a bog, leading to his immediate adoration - and possessiveness. Eventually he insists that 'You're just jealous of her darkened skin and her dainty nose'.This quirky concept&nbsp;all the motivation that Glaister needs to bring&nbsp;a unique love story to the screen,&nbsp;which starts when the reanimated zombie-like Bog Body walks&nbsp;into a London boozer, and begins her ancient dance ritual - before Seb enters the pub whilst she's doing full splits on the pub carpet.And so their passionate affair begins, with the well-preserved ancient woman acquiring the taste for a rock 'n rolll lifestyle.&nbsp;What could possibly go wrong?“I love bog bodies," says Glaister.&nbsp;"I’m obsessed. Thank GOD someone finally wrote a song about one. Dream gig really, got to spend the day in the pub with my mates watching a Bog Lady dance to one of my favourite bands. A support group becomes shared catharsis in&nbsp;Piers Dennis' latest entertaining excursion with Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka&nbsp;Self Esteem.&nbsp;The video for 69 opens in a community&nbsp;setting, where Rebecca sits in a circle of women, delivering the song’s verse with characteristic intensity (and yes, it's all about sex)&nbsp;as the group nods along in understanding, and then begin to be visibly moved. And its simply a great vehicle for the talents of Rebecca Lucy Taylor: her charisma burns through the screen.&nbsp;
