A momentous wait demands a momentous video. It&#39;s been 16 years since the last time The Avalanches released new music. Now its finally arrived, it was beholden on Fleur Fortune&nbsp;(from Fleur &amp; Manu)&nbsp;to produce something substantial for the first video. And Fleur has&nbsp;certainly delivered.&nbsp;The video for Frankie Sinatra&nbsp;takes a Harmony Korine-esque depiction of the Southern United States as a carnival of strange, and then runs with it at full speed towards full-on surrealism.Everyone here sips a drink that glows as if irradiated - the effects of which blur the lines of perception. Dogs operate heavy machinery, food comes to life and fishermen find themselves in a Vietnam War flashback, complete with assault weapon/brass instrument hybrids.It&#39;s a rich tapestry of great looking, funny scenes, and a seemingly massive logistical undertaking. Everything down to the casting has been executed meticulously. A music video worthy of the band who brought us the crazy genius of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn26bX0" target="_blank">Frontier Psychiatrist</a>.

And also tender, and thought-provoking.&nbsp;Fleur &amp; Manu&#39;s latest video, for the Sydney trio Movement&#39;s track Ivory, is a frank exploration of sexual intimacy between a young couple. It&#39;s all about&nbsp;sex - but it&#39;s also about love.&nbsp;A young couple, nude, recline on a bed, and then they begin to perform sex. It is real and natural,&nbsp;but then it becomes frozen, abstracted &ndash; literally framed - where both parties view themselves from without,and then becomes lost in surrealism. &nbsp;This is brave work - and frankly, very French - with courageous performances from the boy and girl. Maybe it will be the&nbsp;most controversial of the year so far - for all the right reasons.&nbsp;

It started with Midnight City, then continued with Reunion. Now here&#39;s the concluding part of Fleur and Manu&#39;s epic kids-with-superpowers trilogy for M83 - for Wait. And things don&#39;t exactly get wrapped up neatly in this one.At first we&#39;re in the aftermath of the confrontation at the climax of Reunion with the leading telekinetic girl, then we&#39;re in outer space with her boy adversary, and a sequence which isn&#39;t so much influenced by Kubrick&#39;s 2001, as an exact reconstruction (before he becomes the Boy Who Fell To Earth...)But this project was always about creating eyepopping blockbuster movie moments &ndash; and this is arguably the most satisfying of the lot.&nbsp;

Here comes a corker. Etienne De Crecy&rsquo;s No Brain is a massive unapologetic slab of thumping retro-electro, and Fleur &amp; Manu&rsquo;s video is awesome exercise in appropriately head-frying psychedelic CGI &ndash; with a surprising and equally nutty live action ending.Etienne has been using the cube as a central feature of his scenography since 2007, and Fleur &amp; Manu used that geometric shape as their inspiration and starting point (and quite possibly Nobody Beats The Drum&rsquo;s&nbsp;Grindin&rsquo;). But then they&rsquo;ve gone completely bananas.This was made in full 3D using Maya animation software at admirable Paris post house Mathematic &ndash; and it will soon be available in stereoscopic 3D. Which is very exciting &ndash; but to be honest, this is mind-meltingly brilliant anyway.

An absorbing and cautionary tale of an unusual friendship for Aussie DJs Bag Raiders by Fleur &amp; Manu, the Paris-based directing team who directed the gripping pulp-narrative video for Tricky's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/08/17/tricky%E2%80%99s-murder-weapon-by-fleur-manu/" target="_blank">Murder Weapon</a> last year. 
Fleur and Manu actually shot this in Bangkok, and worked with a chimp named Ho - renamed Coco for the video. "He was a bad ass to start with," says producer Jules De Chateleux. "But he turned out to be the greatest dude ever."
