Andrew Thomas Huang directs a brilliantly arresting promo for Björk's Ancestress, exploring&nbsp;the idea of death and the rituals we partake in at the end of our loved one's lives, and pays homage to&nbsp;Björk's mother, who passed away in 2018.In stark contrast to the hypnotic, fungi-inspired video for her previous release, this concept is a visualisation of catharsis, a goodbye that only Björk - and her creative collaborators - could create, something&nbsp;raw yet breatktakingly abstract and artistic.She leads a funeral procession of mourners through amazing Icelandic landscapes, her face shrouded by a veil, establishing a tone and atmosphere which is virtually operatic.&nbsp;For Huang, who has memorably collaborated with&nbsp;Björk on several videos, including Mutual Core and The Gate, this sees him forego use of VFX for an entirely cinematic approach, but with its use of colour, costume, choreography and sheer scale this is still so characteristically his work.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Upon release, Björk put out an Instagram post about her struggle with attending funerals, and how her idea of rituals have always been different to tradition.&nbsp;"When the soul sets off, it needs to be outside so there is room for how enormous it becomes when it merges with the elements," she says.This video represents&nbsp;an idealistic send-off from her own perspective, and is heart-wrenchingly beautiful in every way. &nbsp;Jonas Åkerlund&#39;s video for Sigur Rós&#39; first new song in three years is a dark ballet of solitude.Relying mostly on the erratic, hypnotic&nbsp;performance of choreographer&nbsp;Erna Ómarsdóttir for the first section of the video, the audience are voyeurs to a world that seemingly only she inhabits. Living in a tent with a one-eyed canine companion, she writhes around the small Icelandic town with a manic grin and an unhinged intensity in her eyes. We&#39;re left to wonder what caused this? What happened to everyone else?&nbsp;Then, of course, she enters a bar. The population of the town seems to have taken residence in here and things soon move from desolate to debauched as sex and gore factor in quite heavily. I&#39;d say this is an unexpected turn for a Sigur Rós video to take, but with Åkerlund behind the wheel, you&#39;re gonna go down some pretty dark roads.

Originally commissioned and premiered at the Museum of Modern Art, New York as part of&nbsp;the Björk&nbsp;retrospective that ended on June 7th, this epic, ten-minute video for&nbsp;Björk&#39;s Black Lake by her regular collaborator Andrew Thomas Huang&nbsp;has finally been released online.It features a raw, candid&nbsp;performance by the ever-captivating&nbsp;Björk, enhanced by the&nbsp;rugged backdrop of her native Iceland&#39;s&nbsp;natural wonders. Caves, molten blue lava, and desolate&nbsp;green meadows assist in the pained&nbsp;expression conveyed by an ardent performance.&nbsp;
