After the epic, desert-set video for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFLcqHtABxw" target="_blank">The Nature Of Things</a>,&nbsp;Björn Rühmann has released the second installment of his short film series for Los Angeles-based indie folk band The Herbert Bail Orchestra. This one, for the haunting The Future&rsquo;s In The Past is another slow-burner, and nailbiting. It also doesn&#39;t offer much in the way of a happy ending. Quite the contrary, with echoes, intended or otherwise, with the Oscar Pistorius murder case.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rühmann also abandons the traditional music video format, taking the time to explore the narrative before weaving in the music to amplify the emotional crescendo of the characters. It opens&nbsp;with band members discovering the wreckage of an abandoned car at night.&nbsp;But they miss the badly injured woman who limps away, with her baby, from the crash seeking help from a nearby home. When its evident she&#39;s been mistaken as an intruder by the house&#39;s paranoid resident, catastrophe&nbsp;beckons.&ldquo;It&rsquo;s about how humanity has universally become more withdrawn and lonely,&rdquo; notes Rühmann. &ldquo;We wanted to explore the distinct tragedy of being left with yourself in the wake of avoidable trauma caused by a lack of genuine interpersonal connection.&rdquo;&nbsp;The music actually begins in the final section of the gripping film, and Herbert Bail Orchestra frontman Anthony Frattolillo says:&nbsp;&ldquo;We want to make cinema for the ears. Our idea is that every song is a journey and has a story behind it.&rdquo;

Mothertrucker&nbsp;is the second instalment of the &#39;Florian&#39; video trilogy, spanning three tracks by German electronic music producer&nbsp;Paul Kalkbrenner.&nbsp;Written by creatives Alexander Nowak and Felix Richter of Droga5 New&nbsp;York and&nbsp;directed by Björn Rühmann,&nbsp;the material was shot over four days in Los Angeles.The first instalment, <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/05/22/paul-kalkbrenner-cloud-rider-bj%C3%B6rn-r%C3%BChmann" target="_blank">Cloud Rider</a>, introduced the painfully&nbsp;naïve yet lovable&nbsp;Florian,&nbsp;a young foreigner who&nbsp;compulsively shares the music he loves with strangers he meets on the street, only to be aggressively&nbsp;rejected.The second instalment continues directly after the first. Now Florian is bruised, blooded, battered and, not surprisingly, very upset at been beaten and robbed of his music player and headphones.&nbsp;He&#39;s also angry, and through his rage he begins to find some inner strength.Which, in this parable about the outsider role of the&nbsp;electronic dance music genre in the US, leaves us nicely set up for the third and final instalment: Feed Your Head.&nbsp;

Director Björn Rühmann (formerly of directing team The Vikings), co-creator&nbsp;Kerstin Rühmann and songwriter/composer Anthony Frattolillo have created a trilogy of powerful short films that act as individual music videos for songs by&nbsp;American folk outfit the Herbert Bail Orchestra. And within each video, a series of broken characters face the drama of alienation and existential despair over the course of a single day.In the first part of the trilogy, The Nature of Things, the scene is set&nbsp;for the harrowing journey of a man (played by English actor Richie Coster) through the barren American desert, trying to save his only companion, his&nbsp;dog. His spirit and perseverance, beyond all hope, is the reason to keep watching this viscerally punishing film - and then be hooked by an ending that will make you want to watch the next one...
