Tia Salisbury directs a darkly comic promo for post-punk musician Billy Nomates, aka Tor Maries - featuring Spencer Jones, creator/star of off-the-wall TV comedy The Mind of Herbert Clumperdunk.&nbsp;In the video for Blue Bones, Jones plays Maries' super-needy slobbish partner, slurping noodles and invading her space.&nbsp;He's suffocating her both spiritually and physically,&nbsp;in&nbsp;a relationship heading towards&nbsp;its death throes.In the end, it looks like they find some level ground, before Maries hops out and starts life on a more hopeful timeline. This lo-fi effort is a&nbsp;great showcase for the artist and director, and a sign of great things to come for both.&nbsp;

A young man trains for the challenge of his life, in Jack Lilley's oddball promo for MarthaGunn.&nbsp;Following the impeccable visual for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/07/12/marthagunn-holding-fire-jack-lilley/71843">Holding The Fire</a>&nbsp;last month, Lilley switches up his approach, this time creating a narrative video with no performance elements - and it works brilliantly.&nbsp;Starring&nbsp;James Copplestone Farmer as the Scrabble-obsessed protagonist, the concept focuses on the training up to a series of competitions against other pro players - each played by a member of the band in hilarious disguises. The debt to Netflix smash series The Queen's Gambit is clear, but that only makes it more enjoyable.&nbsp;It's another knockout video from Lilley and team, and deserves a rewatch or two.[imgtoken data:1]
