Adrian Villagomez's nailbiting video for Canadian modern composer Apashe begins with a disclaimer, announcing that the story told is "fictional narrative is inspired by several true events".&nbsp;Which is important, as certainly what follows may feel like it will be an account of real atrocities that have happened in the recent past.Villagomez's focus is the existence&nbsp;of religious cults and their pernicious influence on its followers - particularly the young. And he mounts an extraordinary action thriller, based around an attack upon the stronghold of a cult group by a SWAT team, where the vulnerability of children in a lethal environment is brought powerfully home to the viewer.&nbsp;It's that message which comes through most strongly in the latest showcase of hugely ambitious and skillful work in music videos by Adrian Villagomez.&nbsp;&nbsp;<div>&nbsp;</div>

Following his cinematic video for Gasoline, Adrian Villagomez reunites with genre-bending producer Apashe (aka John de Buck) for a new, wonderfully imaginative and nailbiting visual, that utterly reflects the name of the track.The visual&nbsp;for Revenge Of The Orchestra features Apashe sitting in a smoke-filled room, surrounded by the broken remains of a brass orchestra before the instruments come to life, congeal together and transform into a series of creatures - and finally a huge,&nbsp;terrifying monster.[imgtoken data:1]Then the chase is on... and an unlikely yet pulsating action sequence develops, executed with terrific visual flair. Will Apashe pay for his dismissive behaviour towards his old orchestra? His fate is observed throughout by the God-like presence of Magugu - the Nigerian singer who guest vocals on the track - who appears to be directing the action.&nbsp;&nbsp;As well as Villagomez demonstrating another string to his directing bow, incorporating live action with 3D animation with consummate skill, a lot of credit goes to VFX supervisor and 3D artist Josué Zabeau for this achievement. He, Villagomez and John De Buck worked together on developing the concept. The outcome is a genuine thrill.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

UKMVA-winning director Adrian Villagomez returns with a striking and&nbsp;thought-provoking video&nbsp;for Montreal-based rapper Skiifall.Opening with a group of rioters lighting a bonfire in the middle of a church, the video for Yuteman Denis blends a dynamic performance with absorbing dramatic&nbsp;snapshots, focussing on a young boy becoming increasingly alienated with different aspects of his life within the grind of a tough inner city.From the anonymous eye of a CCTV camera to his increasing disenchantment with the world at large, we see his journey through school and&nbsp;church,&nbsp;and his growing desire to break out of the system.&nbsp;When he plays with a lighter towards the end, the link with the controversial bonfire within the church is obvious.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Skiifall performs from the balcony of a Montreal high-rise, looking down on the boy. Having himself arrived in Canada from the Caribbean island of St Vincent as an eight year old, there's just enough suggestion this contains elements of the rapper's own story, without it distracting from the story itself.This is a skilful, sensitive and really powerful portrayal of how a young life can drift into a downward spiral, succinctly told within the music video idiom. A teenager’s obsession with Baroque dance. With punchy colour and rawness, the film dives into the young man’s imaginative inner world, and follows his journey of self-discovery and self-expression through his fanatical love for the passepied, a historic French court dance.It shifts feverishly between his modern-day urban realities and his decadent Baroque fantasies – eventually spinning into one delirious, heady dance of escapism. In docufiction style, director Adrian Villagomez sets Jean-Michel’s passepied to a film of vulnerable beauty and striking visuals, poignantly depicting reality and dream states through the pairing of 16mm (real-life documentary) and digital (dream) film.The title of Jean-Michel’s piece passepied references the lively, fast-paced dance popular in the 17th and 18th century French court. Composer Claude Debussy composed his own version of the dance in his Suite bergamasque for piano. Inspired by Debussy, Jean-Michel writes a new passepied for the 21st century, which features on his new album aubades.&nbsp;
