It's a dance to the death in Sophia Ray's blinding promo for Regard, featuring Olly Alexander of Years And Years.&nbsp;The video places Olly&nbsp;as an apprehensive contestant&nbsp;at the centre of a dance marathon, where he has to sweat, pant, dive and dance his way to an exhausted victory - all driven by Meshach Henry's trailblazing choreography. Meanwhile, Regard lingers as a mysteriously sinister driving force behind&nbsp;the&nbsp;scenes of this dark competition."The concept for the video was inspired by the 1969 Sydney Pollack film They Shoot Horses Don't They," explains Sophia Ray. "We wanted to take the themes from this cult classic and then give the video our own creative spin on them, setting it in a contemporary, perplexing, dystopian space."The video is a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of creativity, wrapped in vibrant layers of choreography, post-apocalyptic styling and futuristic art direction, and emanates a minacious yet playful tone throughout. There is certainly a nod to&nbsp;Squid Game&nbsp;in there too.&nbsp;"It was such a pleasure collaborating with Olly again - as always - and really fun getting the opportunity to work on set with Regard," Ray continues.&nbsp;"It was great to showcase two totally different characters in the video when it came to both artists' involvement in the narrative. A struggling&nbsp;artist, working alone in an empty&nbsp;country house, becomes obsessed by a golden mask&nbsp;- in Alexander Brown's video for Claptone's Just A Ghost.&nbsp;As the artist becomes increasingly haunted, in his dreams and otherwise, by the appearance of&nbsp;a mysterious masked man and his party&nbsp;guests, Brown concocts a swirling fever dream of a narrative, filled with glimpses of trangressions and tangled visions.The video is for a track from the often-masked dance producer, featuring the&nbsp;unmistakeable voice&nbsp;of Seal, returning after a six year absence.&nbsp;It was shot, appropriately enough, in the house where they filmed that latterday Hammer horror classic The Woman In Black.Alexander Brown tells us about the experience of making the video.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>I saw this as an origin story... in which Claptone could comfortably inhabit as a character.</blockquote>What kind of brief did Claptone give you and what were your immediate thoughts when you saw it? When Claptone approached me, the brief was fairly loose. Basically, I could pitch anything, but the focus was to make sure Claptone the character wasn’t mishandled.I sort of saw this as an origin story, not really explaining Claptone, but making the video feel like a story in which Claptone could comfortably inhabit as a character - much in the same was Daft Punk were always viewed as robots, or Gorillaz record at Kong studios. I wanted it to feel like Claptone had a reason for being in this world. I wanted the Claptone mask to be a character itself, a sort of presence in the house.When I wrote the idea, it was the middle of winter, in the middle of lockdown, and I guess the video was riffing on the idea of memories of how much fun it was having parties, being social, and how winter can feel so isolating. Initially, I had the idea of a butler left in a mothballed country house - sort of inspired by Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains Of The Day - someone who has been left behind and finds himself reflecting on times gone by.[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>I wanted the Claptone mask to be a character itself, a sort of presence in the house.</blockquote>Claptone liked the idea but didn’t want to have someone look like his servant, so we developed the idea into a struggling artist going through a creative block. This was great because it gave him something to do apart from polishing the silverware - though I still think that would have been fun too.Tell us about filming. How was this shot? We shot this in the same house that the 2011 movie The Woman in Black was shot. The house has been renovated over the last three years and a lot of it was a building site, but we were very lucky to have the access. We shot it all in one day, which was a testament to the wonderful crew. We had a great second unit to pick up some of the scenes, as there was just too much to cram in. We had a great team thanks to Ellis [Fox, producer].[imgtoken data:3]What do the masks signify? The masks don’t really signify anything. Claptone wears a mask to DJ, and I wanted him to have some friends who felt as though they occupied the same astral plane as him. I wanted the video to have a Stanley Kubrick feel - Eyes Wide Shut being an obvious reference - but beyond that, I think I just wanted Eduardo (the hero) to feel out of place at this gathering.&nbsp;

Sophie Jones presents a series of unusual perspectives in her video for Little Runaway, her second collaboration with Celeste.&nbsp;Carrying over similar themes from previous project I Can See The Change, the video takes us into a dreamlike state, focusing on reflections and distortion through unusual camera techniques.&nbsp;As the video progresses, we see different scenes through a low angle, iris-shaped view point - men lost in gambling, lovers lost in love and hate, a man obsessed with food - all highlighting the greed of humankind.&nbsp;Celeste is brilliant as always, her performance intimate and engaging with a haunting and enignmatic undertone. The use of VFX cleverly entangles each scene in a surreal, not-quite-real atmosphere, elevating the themes of the concept and track.&nbsp;

In the video for Human Contact, Ethan Graham explores a narrative that follows The Howl &amp; The Hum’s lead singer, Sam, as he journeys through a derelict space where people have all been consumed by technology.In what could be seen as a parallel universe, or dystopian future, people have been so affected that they no longer act or move like humans. Sam gives an engaging performance as he tries to resist the contorted movements of those around him, choreographed by Abdourahman Nije. The haunting track is fuelled by a slow-burning, propulsive beat which builds to a fiery crescendo.

Lili_dreams only has 17K followers. It’s high time she fixed that. Sophia Ray directs this sumptuously photographed story about a wannabe influencer for Ritual.Real life influencer Cailin Russo&nbsp;gives a heartfelt performance as Lili, a young woman on a mission&nbsp;for online validation. She experiments with different smiles, products and filters, and initially she finds success. But ultimately, there seems to be nothing she can do to stay relevant and&nbsp;raise her profile. As she loses followers and friends alike, her online world becomes impossible to differentiate from reality.You’ve seen this story before, but rarely with this much flair. The video has a close relative in Nosedive, the episode of Black Mirror in which Bryce Dallas Howard pays the price for her obsession with social media and interaction-based credit. But where Nosedive was all pastels and nihilism, Ray’s video is a more sympathetic portrayal.Alexandre Jamin’s photography is a delight, rendered in all the jewel tones and honeyed glow of an Instagram fantasy. And VFX artist Leanne Pletersky has done great work with frame-jumping texts and 3D graphics that look both realistic and absolutely part of the world they’re helping to depict. Ultimately the biggest credit goes to Sophia Ray, who achieves a great balance between her characteristic visual polish and narrative drive. She really shows what she can do.

A double-bill of videos for debuting&nbsp;downbeat R&amp;B singer&nbsp;Kenzie by Camille Summers-Valli. And the artist and the director collaborated closely on the premise of the videos that were inspired by lucid dreaming.&nbsp;Dark July introduces us to Kenzie in reoccurring narratives, all which build with tension and perplexing encounters. Set in a luxurious hotel, Kenzie&#39;s interactions with the other guests in the hotel lobby, corridors and her room&nbsp;are dreamlike and sensual,&nbsp;the symbolism derived from common tropes that Kenzie and Camille associate with.&nbsp;The Funeral video responds&nbsp;to the strong sense of symbolism within the track - the &quot;dressed up for my funeral&quot; line that implies a contradictory sense of confidence - which is relayed as Kenzie&#39;s slow progress through the rain-soaked streets.Impressively shot by DoP&nbsp;Maximillian Pittner, both&nbsp;videos were shot on location in Bulgaria&nbsp;on a tight budget. Producer Mayling Wong says that the project was &quot;a labour of love&quot; for it&#39;s hard-working crew.&nbsp;It&#39;s certainly&nbsp;one&nbsp;that will help put Kenzie, and Camille Summers-Valli,&nbsp;on the map.&nbsp;&nbsp;
