Baby Queen goes back to school in Harry Law's angsty promo for You Shaped Hole.&nbsp;Let loose in a high school in North East London, the video follows Baby Queen - aka&nbsp;Bella Latham - as she screams into the isolated, empty spaces within&nbsp;the building.&nbsp;Playing up the adolescent, rebellious vibes of the track, it's a great showcase for her performance skills and her love for nostalgic aesthetics.&nbsp;"We wanted to make a different kind of performance film, picturing Baby Queen against the spaces, not the characters, that caused the fabric and form of the song," says&nbsp;Harry Law.&nbsp;"It's an intelligent, subversively written record about heartbreak, and the aftershock of being left alone."

Thomas James explores the fleeting nature of relationships and emotion,&nbsp;in his video for&nbsp;Bobby Gillespie &amp; Jehnny Beth.Inhabiting an empty house, the artists are shown existing in their own space, together but apart, never quite reaching a comfortable medium.&nbsp;There is tension in the air, occasionally erupting into frantic movement and anguished looks, examining the nature of a relationship that was never meant to be.&nbsp;The abstract concept is visualised with excellent black and white cinematography by DoP Tim Sidell, and the performances are perfectly uncomfortable in their execution.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

The use of 8mm and 16mm film stock creates a wistful and nostalgic aesthetic, perfectly complementing the emotionally affecting track and lyrics.&nbsp;The performances are strong throughout, with Robinson's heartbreaking solo setups stealing the show and anchoring the melancholic concept.&nbsp;

JGrrey explores a world of infinite possibilities&nbsp;in Dreaming Fool, directed by Harry Cauty.&nbsp;Set against an infinite black background, the video cleverly transitions from setup to setup, exploring scenes where JGrrey gets tattooed, lights a spliff and even gets watered like a plant. Like any good dream, it's equal parts surreal and idyllic.&nbsp;Shot in a refreshingly natural/ hand-held style, the absence of a gimbal adds a rough and ready quality to the visual, which is a nice juxtaposition to the buttery-smooth track. Each vignette has a distinct style to it, effortlessly moving from weird fashion to offbeat, almost comedic elements, and right back around again for another lap. It's frenetic and inventive, however there is a certain beauty to the project, allowing for poignant and emotional beats in between the quickfire action.&nbsp;JGrrey has a rare, hypnotic style to&nbsp;her performance, and has the ability to make you feel at home in an unfamiliar world. This is the glue to the whole concept- JGrrey will lead you into her universe and show you a good time, leaving you ready for more by the end of the track. And we certainly can't wait to see what's next.&nbsp;

Northwestern folklore and criminal romance collide in this cryptic and seductive video by Kes Glozier.“They say an ancient law still exists whereby you can kill a Welshman. But it has to be within the walls of Chester, after midnight, with a crossbow. I think.” What an intriguing introduction. Bust This Town was inspired by a real medieval by-law - the product of frosty cross-border relations between the Welsh and English.&nbsp;There is no record that this law was ever repealed. The video follows two lovers on the run, who build&nbsp;a love nest in a derelict manor house.&nbsp;Making oblique references to the Chester by-law, Glozier creates a tense, fatalistic atmosphere around the romance, skilfully stretching this historical detail into an analogy for disharmony in a relationship.Glozier plays a similar game here as in his fantastic video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/08/06/hak-baker-lad-kes-glozier/60118">Lad by Hak Baker</a>. In this tense piece of realism, the director took an approach comparable to Lynne Ramsay's films,&nbsp;teasing inevitable violence with tiny gestures and character details.The video also has the remarkable distinction of being photographed by Seamus McGarvey, BSC. The acclaimed DoP is a go-to for tragedy. Having shot We Need to Talk About Kevin&nbsp;(Lynne Ramsay),&nbsp;Atonement and&nbsp;Anna Karenina (Joe Wright), McGarvey is a master communicator of volatile atmospheres and dangerous temperaments.“It’s my own version of Bonnie and Clyde," says Glozier.&nbsp;"A story of love and madness, inspired by my own personal love and madness.”

Both artists are entirely captivating, and the interspersed moments of calm, still shots&nbsp;contrast&nbsp;brilliantly against the frantic camerawork throughout.&nbsp;The video is full of summer vibes, and is the latest work from a director who is paving the way with a distinctive creative style and a unique visual approach. “Cool down, Simmer” indeed.

Marika rocks her corporate hellhole in this simple, effervescent video by Louis Bhose.Somehow, Marika Hackman has ‘given up her soul’ for an ill-fitting suit and a dead-end office job. And she’s starting to wonder how she got here. In a fantasy sequence, she performs inside an enormous, strobing photocopier. Which she proceeds to smash.Hackman has charisma in buckets, or ‘BDE’, to borrow her phrase. In the visual cycle for her upcoming album Any Human Friend, we’re beginning to realise quite how much comic potential the songwriter has always had. Most recently, she had a star turn in Will Hooper’s dry and relatable <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/05/23/marika-hackman-im-not-where-you-are-will-hooper/58874">I’m Not Where You Are</a>. It’s a treat to see rockstar Hackman, and in&nbsp;classic pop video mode; The One could easily be a long lost visual for Heaven 17 or The Human League.The concept is Hackman’s own. According to Agile Films,&nbsp;the story behind it reads a little like this:“Marika Hackman: I want to do a performance vid in a photocopier, where the imagined rockstar in me performs with gusto as the mediocre, let-down version of me watches.Hack Video Director: say no more”.
