Charlie Robins directs a distorted performance video for Yellow Days, featuring&nbsp;Mac Demarco.&nbsp;Shot against a green-screen with tracking markers prominently on display, the visual for The Curse starts as straight performance, before Yellow Days - aka&nbsp;George&nbsp;van den Broek - glitches into a virtual avatar, cloning and multiplying against the increasingly warped backdrop.&nbsp;Cascading into weirder aesthetics, the environment becomes a pre-vis playground, scrambling through dozens of locations and forms. And there's a cameo from Mac Demarco - his&nbsp;3D avatar, that is - during his guitar instrumental break.&nbsp;Quirky and offbeat, the video is an excellent accompaniment to the lilting track, and a testament to the slew of ways the human likeness can be manipulated through technology.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kasabian guitarist Sergio Pizzorno is back again with side project The S.L.P, and a video for the euphoric ((trance)).&nbsp;The self-directed clip is a minimalist performance video, depicting Pizzorno walking down pitch black streets, wearing a pair of ski goggles and some kind of grappling hook wrapped around his body. Intercut with a haunting, frenetic performance,&nbsp;his eyes deep black and glazed over, the whole project is a trip and an intriguing look into the avant-garde mind of The S.L.P. The ghosting effects on this setup also suggest an otherworldly presence, and this is further hinted at by the shadowy figures that follow him incessantly throughout.&nbsp;In such a stripped-back concept, strong performances are key, and Pizzorno is wonderfully erratic and dazed in his role.&nbsp;The end shot is visually stunning, with Pizzorno standing on a black pebble beach, until the camera pulls out and reveals he is encased in some kind of nuclear reactor or megastructure. He might need that grappling hook after all.&nbsp;

With the lighting as powerful as the punches, this inspiring promo is a welcome hello to London-born sweet-voiced (and fit-looking)&nbsp;Christian Gregory.

Lucy Luscombe&#39;s&nbsp;new video for New Zealand band Tiny Ruins&#39; Carriages shows exactly&nbsp;why she&#39;s regarded as a young British director of rich promise. It&#39;s&nbsp;a&nbsp;piercing&nbsp;drama about British malehood and inter-generational rivalry, in the setting of a group of blokes out on a serious bender.Ian Harte gives a brilliant&nbsp;performance as the patriarchal leader of the gang,&nbsp;initiating a young, son-like individual&nbsp;played by Nico Mirallegro into his boozed-up fun and games - but also feeling threatened by him. The simmering tensions between the two are utterly believeable, and the dynamic of other relationships within the group also&nbsp;laser-sharp.&nbsp;Something bad is going to happen, but when it finally does the director still doesn&#39;t overplay it. Very impressive indeed.&nbsp;

It was inevitable, wasn&#39;t it?&nbsp;With the emergence of the GoPro and the fact some people have no fear, something crazy was always going to happen. Thankfully&nbsp;Charlie Robins (from the Charlie &amp; Joe directing team)&nbsp;took it upon himself to put a fresh perspective,&nbsp;a birds-eye-view if you will, that&nbsp;has been shot death-defyingly well. Not for those with vertigo but for everyone else this can only be described as sheer entertainment.The video for&nbsp;Klangkarussell&#39;s&nbsp;Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain) is a brilliant showcase for the daredevil antics of the Ukranian human fly known as Mustang Wanted &ndash; a young man who is able to hang from cranes, one-handed, hundreds of feet above the ground. And with his homeland in a state of turmoil at the moment,&nbsp;Charlie brought him to Belgrade to shoot the video.Everyone gets their kicks in different ways, it&#39;s definitely enough just watching for us. Quite simply, its amazing.We thus (from our office chair)&nbsp;took the time to chat to ask Charlie about his first solo project, find out just how crazy Mustang Wanted is in real life, and discover what it was like to look death in the face on set everyday.LT: Klangkarrussell dominated last summer with their hit Sonnentanz - but&nbsp;how did this collabaration come about?&nbsp;CR: The track was sent through to me. I had the free climbing idea in my mind for a while, and was looking for the perfect musical accompaniment. The lyrics in the song seemed to fit perfectly with what I was trying to do visually, so I pitched the guys the idea and the project went from there.With the emergence of these self-shot stuntmen videos going viral, have you wanted to base a music video around one for a while?I&#39;d seen an incredible documentary a few months back that featured the crazy exploits of Mustang Wanted. He does things so mind-bogglingly dangerous I thought this had to be made into a video somehow. I contacted him and planted the seed. He was well up for collaborating, so we simply waited for the right project to come up. KlangKarrussell came through with Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain) - it was perfect.What was it like working with Mustang Wanted, is he as crazy as his stunts?He is very much a free spirit. It was quite difficult to control him. The way he sees buildings/structures is so far removed from the normal way of thinking. There were several hairy moments when he just shot up a building without warning. Needless to say we had to keep our cameras rolling the whole time.He&#39;s 21 but doesn&#39;t drink, smoke or do drugs, which came as a great relief to me. The last thing I needed was a boozed up or hungover, excited kid climbing like a nutter. He obviously gets his kicks in other ways. How dangerous was it shooting this, in terms of getting the footage? Were there any safeguards put in place to prevent him falling? Mustang works without safety nets, but the crew were safe at all times of course.&nbsp;There were some genuine heart-in-mouth moments for me and the crew on the shoot. For the most part I was looking at the monitor pretending it was just a clip on youtube. My stomach was in knots for two days straight. I also seemed to develop an unhelpful fear of heights halfway up a shoddy ladder on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Belgrade.Belgrade looks incredible, how did you choose which city to shoot in?&nbsp;I originally wanted to shoot the video in Kiev, Ukraine but for obvious reasons that became impossible. I wanted to find a similar looking city with brutal, eastern block architecture. Belgrade was a perfect fit. We found a Serbian production company who worked like troopers to make this all happen in such a short timeframe.For the aerial shots did you use a drone? Helicopter?We used a drone for the aerials. Dragan, our drone operator, was amazing. He could fly that thing inches from Mustang&rsquo;s face and at those height we needed someone precise.Predominantly working in a pair, Charlie &amp; Joe, what was it like working solo?This was the first promo I&#39;ve done without Joe. It was strange not having that person to bounce off but equally as freeing to have one voice on set. Working with a partner is always great and has its obvious benefits but sometimes you just have to get out there on your own and see what you can achieve. He&#39;s doing some really exciting solo stuff too.

Creative agency Portas enlisted the help of Charlie Robins and Joe Alexander to produce a beautifully-shot video for the SS14 Clarks Originals Pioneers campaign, with rapper Hip Hop artist DOOM.The Portas-originated concept&nbsp;showcases a road trip to the home of Clarks Originals - in the Somerset village of Street &ndash; where DOOM releases a new remix of his previously released track Bookhead with the rhythmic sounds made by the shoe-making machinery.

Belgian directing duo Norman Bates have created a&nbsp;video for&nbsp;singer-songwriter Milow&#39;s We Must Be Crazy that sends a shiver down the spine while simultaneously tugging at the heartstrings.&nbsp;Norman Bates call it &quot;a cinematic retro-futuristic spin on the classic Pinocchio story&quot;,&nbsp;in which a&nbsp;young couple deal with the grief at the loss of their baby in an extraordinary&nbsp;way. The unlikely replacement for their emotional attachment becomes increasingly plausible. - and for that much credit must go to&nbsp;British animatronics wizard Chris Clarke, as well as the directors. He&nbsp;built the highly&nbsp;convincing robot baby in the video. And then Norman Bates take&nbsp;the story to its logical conclusion, far in the future...&nbsp;How long did it take Chris Clarke to make that? Did he make it specifically for the video?&nbsp;Pretty early on in the process we knew that the quality of the animatronic baby would be that thing that would make or break the film, so prior to finishing the final draft of the script we contacted animatronic artists to see how we would do it.We realised that the people from Millennium Fx in London were the specialists in the field, but they only had a robotic baby with skin. So we asked animatronic artist Chris&nbsp;Clarke to build the skinless robot baby from scratch, specially to this film. He is a genius, we have to say. Chris is quite famous in the industry and he worked with Steven Spielberg on War Horse, so we knew that we were in good hands.&nbsp;Unfortunately we didn&rsquo;t have the same budget as Mr Spielberg but we tried to charm Chris with our script and it worked. He really helped us to bring the baby creature to a higher level. He made the robot move realistically by giving it some features that we know from newborn babies: an unstable head, arm movements, etc.&nbsp;The moment the animatronic baby appeared on set, everybody was so quiet as you would be when a real baby is on set.&nbsp;The detail in the expressions of this metal creature, was just amazing.&nbsp;It was pure magic to see it move. The baby was puppeteered by a remote control from a distance, but all of us forgot about that. It became real!Did anyone find it a bit upsetting about having made a robot baby that was so much like a real one?We were very surprised to see how the film really affects people.&nbsp;Since its release, a couple of days ago,&nbsp;&nbsp;people are sharing their comments and tell their own stories related to the film on social media. We read some personal stories about people that have lost their own child.&nbsp;The video seems to move people, and the story seems to be recognisable despite its fantasy elements. To us, this is the biggest compliment. The fact that this film&nbsp;grows beyond the expectations of just being a music video, made to accompany a song. It becomes something more and that is something we really like.
