Taz Tron Delix directs the ethereal promo for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's collab on Miracle.&nbsp;The otherworldly video is inspired by the&nbsp;Nineties-style&nbsp;trance elements in the track, exploring&nbsp;a futuristic clash of desert landscapes, anachronistic styling and mysterious movement, revitalising and contemporising the transcendent aesthetics that were born out of the original movement.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]The video cuts between Ellie wearing a jewelry filled tiara and leather outfit with the look of a powerful Queen on an elevated platform surrounded by what appears to be worshippers in sleek beige suits and balaclavas. Rich Hall puts indie band Elephant Kind on an intergalactic tube train chockful of aliens - in his superb video for Love As.The production team at Riff Raff&nbsp;says: "Possibly the most extreme recce we’ve done in a while, was to the Moon and back. Rich Hall wanted to set Elephant Kind’s video there, so we popped over to get the vibe. But the train on the way back to Earth was just so packed with characters, it was like a casting director’s hallway. So Rich said f*** it, let’s just shoot it now."The DoP decided zero-gravity worked in favour of a spinning train carriage shot, and the producer agreed to pay travel expenses for being outside the M25, only because they’d save on camera kit by using alien drool to a dolly effect."So the band warmed up, and busted out their single ‘Love As’. A robot boyband take the world by storm in Maxim Kelly's alternative history of computing and artificial intelligence for Hot Chip - in which music video takes an even more important role...&nbsp;&nbsp;For Broken, taken from the band's recently released eighth album Freakout/Release, we follow the engaging story of Jerry Fairchild, creator of the Fairchild 7000, and its role in turning computer nerds into music video directors (including one named Jon Glazer). That is the introduction&nbsp;to the 'proper' video that features anonymous, frequently multiplying android pop stars, busting moves in a familiar white-syc studio.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]As in some of his previous work - perhaps most notably the video for shame's Nigel Hitter - Kelly reworks obscure vintage corporate film footage to create the foundations for his concept.Then he has created his robot boyband by adding cool robot mask prosthetics&nbsp;to a trio of denim-clad dancers presenting them in a pop video, rooted in the classic form. In this video, soulless androids run through all the motions and cliches of these videos with deadpan robotic precision. It’s a pop video with all the entertaining and watchable bits taken out.”

Maxim Kelly has created a fabulous fever dream of a Western - shot in blinding black and white - for&nbsp;experimental rock combo black midi.The song Eat Men Eat - from the forthcoming album Hellfire - is a typically eclectic fusion-jam (Rock meets Flamenco!), with lyrics by vocalist Cameron Picton, about two men and their quest to overcome the cruel captain of a mining facility. That's the starting point for Kelly's interpretation where two prospectors become embroiled a similarly overbearing personality, and their efforts to poison him.That barely does justice to the sense of abandon and euphoria, laced with doom and destruction, that powers the story. It features a compelling&nbsp;performance by Calvin Cornwall as 'the captain', luminous cinematography by&nbsp;Pieter Snyman, a brilliantly unhinged edit by music video editing legend&nbsp;Vid Price.&nbsp;Kelly also incorporates a characteristic&nbsp;multi-media element,&nbsp;which adds to the strange surreal silent movie atmosphere.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“The story starts in the desert with two men engaged in a desperate search for missing friends," says Cameron Picton of the song.&nbsp;"Their quest leads them to a strange mining facility which, despite a death of natural resources in the area, opens its door for even stranger hosts to welcome them.”Kelly adds that meant the story was already largely in place when it came to making the video.&nbsp;"I just worked to visualise that narrative whilst staying true to the band’s vision and songwriting," he says.&nbsp;"So, I had this idea in my head of an old silent movie aesthetic with inter-titles. But every now and then it turns into a 'talkie'&nbsp;with parts of lip-syncing."It’s a structurally unusual song, so it’s wonderful when a track like this comes along and forces you to break your usual patterns and habits and push yourself as a director.“I first listened to black midi in 2018 when my friend recorded a live performance in his studio for NTS Radio. I think this might be one of their first-ever recordings, and it blew me away. So I’m thrilled to have the honour of making their latest music video."

Metronomy relive their teenage years&nbsp;in Juliet Casella and Thibaut Caesar's warmly nostalgic video for Things Will Be Fine.&nbsp;Band frontman Joseph Mount describes the video as “a sort of pseudo role-play therapy session in which we all re-visit our teenage selves.” And as such the five bandmembers each have their own well-observed vignette, recreating the byegone age of the late Nineties/early Noughties, reflecting on some of their childhood ambitions and dreams.&nbsp;So we see Metronomy revisit&nbsp;old social media platforms (on a first-gen iMac), first-time attempts at shaving, saving a guinea pig on the loose, and suffering from teen ennui - all unfolding within the same house. It's glued together by a band performance, which also has the feel of&nbsp;a teen band try-out, in the living room.[imgtoken data:1]With a&nbsp;concept that flows directly from the song's lyrics, the video delivers on bringing those themes to life in way that's pitch-perfect for the band. The art direction and set design are top-notch, as are&nbsp;the performances. It makes for a memorable, charming video - and&nbsp;confirms a fairly evident fact that Metronomy are a marvellous video band.But apparently, making this video did take its toll.&nbsp;Joseph Mount concludes: “Everyone ended up more scarred than they did before making it - apart from Michael [Lovett] and his fucking guinea pigs.” And that's that.&nbsp;

Dreamjob - that's Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills - give the now-familiar Groundhog Day structure an existential makeover for Metronomy's return to action with the aptly titled&nbsp;It's Good To Be Back.Metronomy's frontman Joe Mount encounters his fellow bandmembers through a series of studio-set exteriors of exaggerated fakeness. He ends the sequence with a singing cowboy in front of a sunset backdrop 'shooting' him with his fingers, sending Mount spinning back to the beginning.[imgtoken data:1]As he repeats the sequence of events, things inevitably change, but not quite in the way you might expect. This is no exercise in achieving improvement and ultimate perfection - quite the opposite. A mesmerising promo by Rei Nadal at Prettybird for Georgia Twinn's track Moth.&nbsp;Intercutting night vision setups with a handful of dynamic vignettes, the focus is purely on performance, and Twinn is in her element.&nbsp;&nbsp;"It's about needing space.” Twinn explains. “You know when someone you’re dating is that bit too clingy? That’s pretty much my inspiration for the track. I was in a relationship and needed some space but wasn’t getting it and so Moth&nbsp;was born. It has a lot of attitude and I just wanna shout the lyrics as loud as I can.”Visualising this yearning for space, we see the artist hanging from the ceiling and leaning right in close to the camera, adopting a series of unique perspectives to create a sense of suffocating unease.&nbsp;“It was really fun to collaborate with Georgia as she was into the music videos I grew up with, so we had a common visual language between us," explains&nbsp;Rei Nadal."And it was also a pleasure to work with [Twinn's creative director]&nbsp;Courtney MC, whose attention to detail really elevated the aesthetics on screen.” &nbsp;

And after <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/11/04/passenger-song-drunk-and-broken-hearted-raja-virdi/67614" target="_blank">A Song For The Drunk And Brokenhearted</a>&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/11/16/passenger-suzanne-raja-virdi/67881" target="_blank">Suzanne</a>, Remember To Forget focusses upon an individual in the club who has had a few drinks too many, but remains surprisingly graceful on his feet.Brett Jones plays the drunk who staggers and sways around the bar with unusual elegance, and then engages with Passenger and his band's performance with endearing gusto, and eventually draws the rest of the club into a joyful dance routine.With choreographed by Jamie Neale, and a noteworthy performance from the nimble Jones - who has made a few good videos in his time, including for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2014/07/15/jungle-time-oliver-hadlee-pearch/27726" target="_blank">Jungle's Time</a>&nbsp;- Raja Virdi aims for that point between&nbsp;gritty realism and fantasy and hits the mark with this poignant song-and-dance video.&nbsp;&nbsp;
