A man riddled with anxiety breaks down at a&nbsp;therapist's office in the video for Going Norway, Bob Gallagher's latest harrowingly intense yet mesmerising video for Girl Band.As with his previous videos for the band, Gallagher introduces us to a character experiencing a nightmarish situation from which there appears to be no escape. In this case, it happens to be where a person could expect some respite from the outside world. Instead, in an office of deep red, bathed in sickly yellow lighting, he faces a personal, terrifying&nbsp;Hell.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As the main character sits down, he begins to mouth the words of the track. This is intermittently picked up by the therapist&nbsp;as he writes down the next line of the song, anticipating what the anxious man will say next.&nbsp;After being hypnotised, the room suddenly transforms into a confession box, as the antagonistic therapist continues to scream the lyrics from the other side of the screen. This transformation is repeated several times throughout the video, moving into a situation even more surreal than before. Paired with the unique camera angles and stellar performances from both cast members, creates a claustrophobic and unsettling mood.&nbsp;Evan Barry confidently executes the cinematography, creating an air of unease with the dramatic lighting and camerawork, and Matt Branton's colour grade is truly inspired, with saturated&nbsp;reds and muted yellows which could have come straight from a Giallo film.&nbsp;

Bob Gallagher's latest video for Dublin rock outfit Girl Band is a departure from his previous run of gripping narratives, like the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/08/11/girl-band-paul-bob-gallagher-0/44055" target="_blank">brilliantly off-the-wall&nbsp;Paul</a>&nbsp;- but this is still next-level intense.&nbsp;For Shoulderblades, Gallagher collaborates with dancer Oona Doherty, and her performance, veering between unhinged and harrowing, but with hints of impish humour, is a reflection of the sheer power and brooding aggression in the song.&nbsp;Utterly compelling.

Villagers&#39; Conor O&#39;Brien goes out for a romantic&nbsp;dinner date, and offers his dinner partner a remarkable token of his affection, in Bob Gallagher&#39;s tragi-comic video for Fool.It&#39;s a surreal and grisly tale of unrequited love, told entirely from the perspective of O&#39;Brien&#39;s date - it was shot with the camera mounted on the director&#39;s head - and featuring a larege cast of fellow restaurant goers, it&#39;s expertly choreographed to tell the story in a single&nbsp;continuous shot.

Dublin-based director and storyteller supreme Bob Gallagher has created a charming video for Villagers&#39; Trick Of The Light, the first release from their forthcoming album The Art Of Pretending To Swim.A mysterious disheveled man wanders the streets at night and like a suited shaman, triggers an altered state of consciousness in everyone he meets. Or at least thinks that he does.It&#39;s a delightful confection - and is that Villagers&#39; Conor O&#39;Brien playing the disgruntled cinema kiosk worker, whisked into the air by our hero?&nbsp;Even when our hero&#39;s delusions are brutally exposed, it&#39;s still worth hanging on for the final seconds. Music videos rarely attain a sense&nbsp;of wistfulness, but Bob Gallagher has achieved it here.

He builds claustrophobic tension, shot through with dark humour,&nbsp;largely through two elements not largely dependent upon budget: character and editing.

Bob Gallagher combines two very different screen classics in this charming video for Saint Sister.Taking the Wizard of Oz story and throwing it into the mix with Blind Date&nbsp;turns out to be a recipe for a beautifully understated romance narrative - who&#39;d have thought it? Mixing aspect ratios to switch between the cinema and the TV pastiches and the brave stylistic choice of using sepia tones really pays off here, giving the video an authentically retro feel, yet not feeling dated (no pun intended).

Irish director Bob Gallagher, who has helmed a fine series of intense, dramatic videos for Rough Trade noiseniks Girl Band - including the memorable <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4SmyqO5DUU" target="_blank">Paul</a>, and the MVA-nominated <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/07/08/girl-band-plastic-bob-gallagher" target="_blank">In Plastic</a> &ndash; has now created something rather more lyrical, but just as dramatic for folkie pair Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker.A woman (played by Olwen Fouere) stands on a deserted, sun-kissed beach and looks out to sea, and occasionally at a fishing boat, lying&nbsp;on the beach. It&#39;s shot on Super8mm, which adds to the atmosphere of loss and longing that Gallagher evokes from this simple scenario,&nbsp;when matched to a genuinely beautiful, delicately emotional track.

Dublin-based director&nbsp;Bob Gallagher has made several videos for the Irish noise-rockers Girl Band, their intense sound providing an apt soundtrack to his strangely compelling, twisted&nbsp;dramas - like&nbsp;in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4SmyqO5DUU" target="_blank">Paul</a>, where a children&#39;s TV entertainer goes seriously off the rails. Their latest collaboration for In Plastic, is more of a Kafka-meets-1984&nbsp;setpiece: it&#39;s a border security checkpoint, at an unspecified time period, with&nbsp;the focus on a very anxious traveller in the line for the X-ray scanner, fearful of discovery of the the unknown contents of his suitcase.&nbsp;&nbsp;With his&nbsp;excellent&nbsp;use of an impressive supporting cast, and particularly with the&nbsp;editing, Gallagher extracts every drop of tension from this always-relevant&nbsp;scenario. And just as with the previous Girl Band videos, there&#39;s plenty of black&nbsp;humour in there too.&nbsp;

Dublin-based Bob Gallagher - who has recently been signed to Lock It In for&nbsp;music video representation - has directed this touching dramatic video for&nbsp;SOAK&#39;s&nbsp;Reckless Behaviour, following the unlikely Harold and Maude-ish friendship between a fun-loving and off-kilter&nbsp;older woman and a troubled young girl.&nbsp;The friendship begins with a sneaky cigarette break from the hospital, just when the girl - who&#39;s&nbsp;wrists are bandaged -&nbsp;most needs a friend.&nbsp;Eventually the pair are split up, but not before breaking out of the hospital, indulging in the&nbsp;freedom of an afternoon drive and&nbsp;speeding&nbsp;away from the police &ndash; and the young girl&#39;s&nbsp;realisation&nbsp;she has more in common with the old girl than she first thought.&nbsp;
