Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Alex + Plex Studio release a stripped-back promo for Arctic Lake, following their previous collaboration on Lonely.&nbsp;The video for Breathe moves&nbsp;into a more minimalist, lifeless setting, with vocalist Emma Foster performing as projected&nbsp;patterns intermittently wash over her face.&nbsp;The overwhelming red colour palette feels dangerous and alerting, evoking the fearful themes&nbsp;of the track, and signalling the end of the road for her first love.[imgtoken data:1]"The idea behind Breathe&nbsp;is tied to our previous collaboration with Arctic Lake, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0jU46jm_Rg" target="_blank">the Lonely&nbsp;video</a>, a warmth-drenched, intense performance of Emma (Arctic Lake’s singer) as a trio packed in a confined space," explain&nbsp;Alex + Plex Studio. "Breathe&nbsp;is the aftermath of that. It’s Emma’s introspective moment, alone in the same space."We transformed elements of the previous video, the colour palette, set design details and cinematography, into a minimal and lifeless setting, stripped out of everything. The constant zoom and synced visuals projected on Emma’s face also operate in direct contrast to the energetic and communal feel of Lonely."We loved the idea of creating this little introverted piece after a very extroverted project. Our DOP Maximilian Mckay and art directors Louis Simonon and Murdo Hepburn were crucial to shape the visual world behind both videos, with the intent of communicating opposite feelings whilst keeping a strong aesthetic bond between both projects."&nbsp;

Zhu heads on down to Area 51 for Came For The Low, directed by&nbsp;Jack Murgatroyd &amp; Zhu himself.&nbsp;Cast your mind back to September 20th 2019. It was a scorcher in the UK, but aside from the better than usual weather, everything was pretty much same old. The same can't be said on the other side of the Atlantic.&nbsp;On that date, an event was set up to "Storm Area 51" to see what was lurking in the secret (but not so secret) military base in Nevada. With hundreds of thousands promising to attend, the actual turnout on the day was pretty minimal. For this music video,&nbsp;Jack Murgatroyd &amp; Zhu headed out&nbsp;with the idea to put their&nbsp;own creative interpretation on what they&nbsp;knew would be the absurdity of internet culture at its finest.Intercutting live action performance and narrative setups&nbsp;with vintage&nbsp;stock footage, the montage forms an exciting and frenetic concept. Action-packed and cinematic, it's an exceptional&nbsp;project, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the directors join forces for&nbsp;another video in the near future. Perhaps somewhere a little safer than a military testing site next time though...&nbsp;

After a quiet spell Sing J Lee steps up to the mark again in&nbsp;music videos with a real statement for Halsey. And&nbsp;it&#39;s&nbsp;just for starters.The video for Now Or Never is a blockbuster - a big, cinematic fantasy&nbsp;action thriller with blue-haired Halsey falling&nbsp;for a rival gang member during a turf war of heavily armed kids&nbsp;in a dangerous near-future LA.&nbsp;Everything leads inexorably to a gripping and very violent climax, and it&#39;s expertly&nbsp;helmed by Lee, in his first big&nbsp;Stateside music video. And this happens to be&nbsp;just the first half of the story. As Halsey escapes to cut her blue locks and recover from the trauma, we suspect there will be&nbsp;further twists in the tale.It&#39;s beautifully shot by&nbsp;Kristof&nbsp;Brandl, and as well as the two for Halsey, Sing J Lee has also worked with the DoP in a video shot in Shanghai for Tchami that comes out shortly. With another video for Raye in pre-production, Lee is well and truly back - all guns blazing.
