Michael Cumming, best&nbsp;known for his TV comedy work like Brass Eye and Toast Of London, and his commercials, makes an auspicious music video directing debut for George Ezra that pokes wholesome fun at some of the absurdities of the music industry.The video for Pretty Shining People mocks the pop machine process, with George trying to win a recording contract by performing for&nbsp;a bunch of jaded record execs - all played by kids. They then want to turn the distinctive singer-songwriter into a pop star, by making him smile and dress and dance just like everyone else.Can George win them over by being true to himself? You better believe it.Ezra certainly has a knack for this sort of&nbsp;self-effacing, gently satirical comedy. It&#39;s served him well before&nbsp;- including a recent&nbsp;turn on Reeves and Mortimer&#39;s brilliant&nbsp;Big Night Out - and it does so again here.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mick Jagger&#39;s scathing response to Brexit has inspired a compelling, quietly furious video by Saam Farahmand.While Jagger uses a sporting metaphor in England Lost to make his point about the country&#39;s slide into global irrelevance, Farahmand takes the metaphor in another more&nbsp;cinematic direction.Luke Evans plays the man&nbsp;from the Ministry, with &#39;50s suit and impeccable old-world manners, who senses the need to rebel. And so he runs - not only from the city, but apparently out of his own time.&nbsp;Colliding into signs of a far more modern world feeds his paranoia and the desire to escape.&nbsp;But ultimately, and in classic fashion, he is marooned.&nbsp;Farahmand&#39;s surreal nightmare vision, laced with humour, reflects Jagger&#39;s own beginnings in the mid-20th century - the age of George Orwell, post-war paranoia, old school espionage. And also the brilliant 60s TV show The Prisoner,&nbsp;where the hero was imprisoned in the Village, and the border of his world was the beach. Here the Village is just a little bit bigger.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Floating women, crucifixes and brutalism - there&#39;s a rich tapestry of imagery in Pedro Martin-Calero&#39;s newest clip for The Weeknd.Martin-Calero&#39;s awesome minimalist visual sees The Weeknd and another man vie for the affections of the same woman as they all make their way through a huge, beautiful maze-like building. With deep blood-red decor cutting through the space, a series of silent observers, distorted mirrors and geometric shapes the clip has an almost Kubrickian sense of dread to it. No wonder some excitable commenters are seeing this as some kind of evidence&nbsp;of The Weeknd&#39;s affiliation with &#39;The Illuminati&#39;.

Nothing But Thieves and Thomas James pull all the stops out for Amsterdam, the first single from the Southend rockers&#39; second album Broken Machine.&nbsp;Shot in Kiev, Ukraine in a enormous hanger, director and band create a powerfully intense performance that just keeps building, and attracting a small army of locals, thrown back yet drawn in by the power of the music. Choreographed by Alexandra Green, these dancers close in around&nbsp;the band, and then they submit to them.In many ways&nbsp;it&#39;s a simple idea, but nonetheless feels entirely fresh, and it&#39;s delivered with style and control on an appropriately epic scale. A real statement of intent by both Nothing But Thieves and Thomas James.&nbsp; &nbsp;
