Joshua Stocker directs a beautiful and moving promo for Guvna B's autobiographical story of injustice, Bridgeland Road.&nbsp;Through a series of powerful vignettes - captured in outstanding cinematography by DoPs Adam Singodia and Luke Dryden - Stocker's video provides an atmospheric visual context for the London-born rapper, author and broadcaster's reflections upon his life following an unprovoked racially motivated attack, which he reported to the police but who dropped the case&nbsp;four months after the incident.Spurred on by Emmy award-winning actress and writer&nbsp;Michaela Coel - whose voicemail appears in the track around the halfway mark -&nbsp;Guvna B (aka Isaac Borquaye) reveals more about the attack and its subsequent handling by the police and legal process, while the monochrome video establishes the artist's world with artistic resonance.&nbsp;&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Stocker sets the scene with well-crafted scenes of the place&nbsp;where the artist&nbsp;grew up,&nbsp;detailing normal daily life, lazy afternoons and meetups with friends. Directing duo TEARJERKER direct a touching exploration of love and relationships, in their seventh promo for The Academic.&nbsp;The loved-up video for My Very Best is the third in a trilogy for the group's latest album, and is set against the backdrop of the annual Matchmaking Festival in&nbsp;Lisdoonvarna, Ireland.Anchored by farmer Willie Daly - the third in a line of traditional matchmakers - the video is a hopeful, heartwarming tale which documents the hope and bravery of people attending in anticipation of making a match.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Evoking a sense of timeless love, the duo blended a modern and vintage aesthetic, using an old Sony DV camera and Arri Alexa Mini. The Academic themselves appear in a performance shot in a community hall, tying the whole thing together in their own energetic way.Hope and Ronan&nbsp;of TEARJERKER had come across a sign for&nbsp;Europe's Largest Singles Festival while taking a road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way on the West Coast of Ireland a couple of years ago with a bunch of friends. They had stopped to take a photo next to the sign."Sadly it was cancelled that year, but we knew we'd be back to capture it one day," explains Hope. "There is something so brave and hopeful about the people going there with the anticipation and nervousness of finding a match, we wanted to document that feeling. "We took a tiny film crew there and we've truly never seen anything like it. It's an Irish match-making festival so there was a lot of boozing and the endorphins were high. We witnessed some pretty X-rated moments that didn't quite make it into the final cut.[imgtoken data:2] "All the friends from the photo with the sign are all in relationships now, so maybe there really is something in the air in Lisdoonvarna."The directors add that their long working relationship with The Academic has changed the way they make music videos.&nbsp;"There's such trust and respect between everyone working on the projects. The themes are often the same — youth, heartbreak, hope, big dreams in a small town — but we’ve tried to mix genres and form. We want each one to feel different.”

Viral TikTok track Jiggle Jiggle gets an unexpected music video treatment from Stanley Brock.&nbsp;Louis Theroux is one of our great documentary filmmakers - but I don't think any of us expected him to be the lead artist in a music video.&nbsp;This all changed when Duke &amp; Jones transformed his iconic Jiggle Jiggle rap - first seen on an episode of&nbsp;Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends in 2000 - into a catchy pop track.&nbsp;The video is a warm, celebratory affair, with Theroux and Dimz (Chicken Shop&nbsp;Date's Amelia Dimoldenberg) cruising around town, stopping to drink some wine at a café and&nbsp;get some dinner at a 'drive-Theroux'. And the appearance of Jason Derulo, with his beaming smile beamed in from LA, is the icing on the cake.&nbsp;Matching the idiosyncratic nature of the track, its a brilliant visual with plenty of comedic - and downright unusual - moments.&nbsp;

Metronomy relive their teenage years&nbsp;in Juliet Casella and Thibaut Caesar's warmly nostalgic video for Things Will Be Fine.&nbsp;Band frontman Joseph Mount describes the video as “a sort of pseudo role-play therapy session in which we all re-visit our teenage selves.” And as such the five bandmembers each have their own well-observed vignette, recreating the byegone age of the late Nineties/early Noughties, reflecting on some of their childhood ambitions and dreams.&nbsp;So we see Metronomy revisit&nbsp;old social media platforms (on a first-gen iMac), first-time attempts at shaving, saving a guinea pig on the loose, and suffering from teen ennui - all unfolding within the same house. It's glued together by a band performance, which also has the feel of&nbsp;a teen band try-out, in the living room.[imgtoken data:1]With a&nbsp;concept that flows directly from the song's lyrics, the video delivers on bringing those themes to life in way that's pitch-perfect for the band. The art direction and set design are top-notch, as are&nbsp;the performances. It makes for a memorable, charming video - and&nbsp;confirms a fairly evident fact that Metronomy are a marvellous video band.But apparently, making this video did take its toll.&nbsp;Joseph Mount concludes: “Everyone ended up more scarred than they did before making it - apart from Michael [Lovett] and his fucking guinea pigs.” And that's that.&nbsp;

In his second video for DJ/producer prxz, following <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/09/29/prxz-child-red-milo-blake/73079" target="_blank">Child In Red</a>, Milo Blake directs&nbsp;a poetic re-interpretation of the Grim Reaper shepherding a lost soul from limbo, in his promo for Girl.&nbsp;Shot entirely in a six minute&nbsp;continuous take, this one-shot film follows this version of the Reaper as she moves through an abandoned aftermath and interacts with the Soul.The abstract interpretation of the concept creates an aura of mystery which heightens the drama of the piece - with a great use of the East London location and in particular a giant electric pylon tower that straddles the road, its frame picked out in Adam Singodia's black and white cinematography.[imgtoken data:1]The excellent central performances by Emma Aldija as the Reaper and&nbsp;Maddie Millar as the Soul are also noteworthy,&nbsp;keeping viewers engaged with hypnotic, otherworldly movement and spontaneous choreography, captured by Steadicam operator Mike Vega.&nbsp;

Up-and-coming director-duo Waxxwork direct a dark and melancholic promo for Berwyn.Following their nomination for Eddy Luna's Still Breathing in the Best R&amp;B/Soul&nbsp;Video Newcomer at this year's UKMVAs,&nbsp;the directing team continue their creative journey with this impressive video for Berwyn's new track MIA.&nbsp;Interweaving the rapper's&nbsp;strong performance with an action-packed and symbolic storyline, the video cleverly integrates&nbsp;VFX and live action, resulting in a concept that feels bittersweet&nbsp;and poignant.[imgtoken data:1]A clever use of perspective and contrasting frame rates add a haunting dimension to the project. Waxxwork - Timothy Casten&nbsp;and Vikesh Govind - play with the idea of time as Berwyn is stuck in a limbo that's both metaphorical and visual, attempting to escape both memories and reality.&nbsp;And it all leads to Berwyn becoming both the victim&nbsp;being buried alive,&nbsp;and also the leader of his captors, shovelling the earth on his alter-ego.&nbsp;It lingers long after watching.&nbsp;

Alex Lawther - acclaimed actor from&nbsp;End of the F*cking World,&nbsp;Black Mirror,&nbsp;and much more -&nbsp;has made his&nbsp;directorial debut for childhood friend and artist Linus Fenton.Sponsored by mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and beautifully shot on 16mm by DoP Adam Singodia, the film examines a difficult friendship between two young boys. They&nbsp;are close as brothers but find it impossible to make one another aware of their feelings.For the film, Lawther worked closely with movement director Grace Nicol to build an avant-garde visual language, which expresses the two boys' attempts to connect with one another, drawing on his experience as an actor to inform his directorial approach.“Linus called me up towards the end of the first Lockdown," Lawther recalls.&nbsp;"He’d written an album, [and] it was the first time I had heard him writing in this way. It was beautiful.&nbsp;I was very moved.&nbsp;&nbsp;"He then asked me if I’d like to direct a video for one of the songs. I&nbsp;was not only lucky to get to work on my first directing gig with a dear friend, but also a brilliant creative team and two wonderful actors - Roman Griffin Davis&nbsp;and Connor Mason."[imgtoken data:1]The video was produced by Blink, with whom Lawther worked when starring as Declan McManus's 'double' in the <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/04/16/declan-mckenna-key-life-earth-will-hooper/64352" target="_blank">Key To Life On Earth&nbsp;video directed by Will Hooper</a> last year.&nbsp;“Collaborating with Alex on his first music video has been such a wonderful experience," says Laura Northover, head of music at Blink.&nbsp;"His experience as an actor really informed his approach when working with the boys on set and during the rehearsals in the lead up to shooting."He’s not only the loveliest person, but also ridiculously talented. I’m looking forward to working together more in the future as he develops as a director.”

They have been absorbed by a digital world, waiting for themselves - or something - to shake them out of their reality.Featuring a cold, desaturated colour palette and glitchy performance scenes playing out on different devices, the video feels as if it lives within a parallel world, abstract and alien in its presentation.The heart of the concept shines through, however, finding a universally relatable anchor in the relationship on-screen, and the emotions that play out.&nbsp;
