BUG, the live big screen event celebrating the best in music video craft and creativity on the big screen, hosted by Adam Buxton, is returning to the BFI Southbank for two nights - with the first and only brand new show of 2023.Tickets are now on sale for BUG 65 - featuring a selection of the best music videos released over the past year, and whatever other visual gems emerge from Adam's laptop - which takes place at the BFI Southbank in London on Thursday 23rd November and Friday 1st December with the long-awaited BUG 65, both kicking off at 8.45pm.Tickets, which went on sale yesterday (November 2nd) are selling fast, so do not delay and book now for this unmissable show via the BFI website.

The first BUG of 2023 is coming to indigo at The O2 in London on Thursday, March 2nd, when Adam Buxton will present a special selection of ingenious music videos and comedy as part of the Just For Laughs London festival.Adam will be taking some of the 'best bits' from the run of BUG shows at the BFI Southbank in 2022, as well as reviving some classic moments from the longrunning showcase of music video creativity on the big screen in this new 'Best of BUG' show. BUG is back with a brand new episode in September featuring the best in music video creativity - hosted by Adam Buxton (above) - at the BFI Southbank in London.Tickets are on sale now for two shows of BUG 64 - on Friday 23rd September, and Thursday 29th September - both at BFI Southbank.BUG 64 will showcase a brand new selection of the most innovative work in music videos from the past few months, and also feature some more of the outstanding work that was released during the two year period during the pandemic, when BUG was unable to present shows at the BFI.The show will be MC'd in his inimitable fashion by regular BUG host Adam Buxton, who will be inserting his own brilliant, comic offerings along the way. newsBUG launches new "AMAZING!" playlist

A year on from the last live BUG show before lockdown - the BUG Supergrass special at the BFI Southbank in early March 2020 - the team behind the live music video show have launched a new playlist on its YouTube channel, called BUG "Amazing!"The playlist is a selection of music videos (and a few other things) that were enjoyed by the BUG team in the past 12 months, and might have featured in the regular live show at the BFI, had it run as normal in 2020.It includes some of the most fun, creative, groundbreaking, downright bizarre work from the past year, from some of BUG's favourite directors - including Keith Schofield, Aoife McArdle and Hiro Murai - and lots of other directors who have never been featured at BUG before (but hopefully will be in the future). This playlist can be enjoyed at home - hopefully on a reasonably large screen, with a decent sound system - to create a version of the BUG experience: essentially, great music video creativity being enjoyed on the big screen from a comfy seat in a cinema, with other people. newsBUG Supergrass special - now on YouTube

An edited version of BUG's show dedicated to Supergrass - which took place at the BFI Southbank in London a few days before the start of lockdown - has just been released on the BFI's YouTube channel.The special show, hosted by Adam Buxton, brought together Supergrass's greatest music videos for the first time on the big screen, coinciding with the release of a definitive box-set collection of their six studio albums by BMG, and the end of the band's sellout reunion tour.In the show on March 5th 2020, days before all cinemas closed due to the Covid-19 crisis, Buxton took the audience through the band's history and greatest music videos with characteristic irreverence - the show is dotted with fascinating "Grass Fax" - and was also joined on stage by directing duo Dom & Nic (Dominic Hawley and Nic Goffey), who worked with the band from their earliest days, and by bandmembers Danny Goffey (Nic's brother) and Rob Coombes. The hugely entertaining panel discussion that follows provides the basis of the just-released video of the BUG Supergrass show, indispersed with clips of some of the band's most celebrated videos, including Mansize Rooster, Alright, Going Out, Pumping On Your Stereo and a previously unseen video by Dom & Nic for Caught By The Fuzz. The film is part of the BFI At Home lockdown series on their YouTube channel, which has included interviews with The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers; Asif Kapadia and Roman Osin paying tribute to late Indian actor Irffan Khan; and writer/actor Lennie James on Save Me Too. • BFI YouTube channel here

newsAdam Buxton is bringing BUG back to the BFI Southbank this February

BUG is back. The event that brings you the best music videos to the big screen will be returning to its home base at the BFI Southbank next month for the first brand new show in over a year - hosted, as always, by Adam Buxton. Picking up from where he left off at the end of 2017, before taking a well-earned sabbatical to focus on other projects in 2018, the man they call Dr Buckles will be showcasing the BUG curating team's pick of the best new work in music video at NFT1 at the BFI Southbank in London, dissecting his favourite recent online content, and inviting guests on stage to discuss their work.The premiere of BUG 58 is happening on Wednesday, February 13th at 8.45pm (GMT), and two further shows (known as The Director's Cut) at 6.30 and 8.45pm on Thursday, February 28th. Tickets for BUG 58 on February 13th and 28th (two shows) are now on sale to BFI Members, and on sale to everyone else from next Tuesday, January 15th.

BUG returns in early July with a very special new show, for a very worthy cause.For the first time, the UK's big screen showcase for music video creativity is getting together with Doc Heads - the highly respected London-based screening event of shortform documentary films - to explore the intersection between music and documentary filmmaking.Taking place at the Everyman Screen on the Green in Islington, London on Tuesday, July 3rd, the event will feature a range of exceptional short documentary work - from outstanding music-related docs to music videos that are also extraordinary documentaries - that embrace a range of narrative styles. These include Kyle Thrash's video for Rainbow Kitten Surprise about African-American drag artists in Louisiana (pictured above). The result is a showcase of shortform documentary work that is enlightening, entertaining and very moving. And all of the proceeds of this special show will go directly to War Child, to help the charity’s important work in alleviating the suffering of children affected by conflict.For 25 years, War Child has been protecting innocent victims of conflict. Providing protection, education and livelihoods support, War Child works tirelessly to give children their childhood back and the tools to build a better future for themselves.
