Coming to the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle this Friday, ‘Music Video Preservation Society - The Art Behind the Song’ presents videos from the artists nominated for the 2026 Mercury Prize - including RAYE, with Otis Dominique, director of some of RAYE’s biggest videos, joining the panel of guest directors at the event.

Otis will be introducing his videos for Escapism, Genesis and the recent Joy (from the Mercury-nominated This Music May Contain Hope) and talking about his longstanding creative partnership with RAYE.

He will be explaining how RAYE’s personal journey and growth as an artist over the past few years has been brought to the screen through the music videos he has made with the singer. And he joins a panel of directors who have also made great videos for artists in the running for the 2026 Mercury Prize.

Director Chris Turner (aka Favourite Colour:Black) will also be at the Tyneside CInema on Friday, talking about working with Suede on the videos for tracks from their album Antidepressants. And Lulu Vicedomini will be talking about working with local heroes Knats, nominated for their album A Great Day In Newcastle.

There will be more stories behind the videos for more of this year’s Albums Of The Year - including by JADE, Olivia Dean, Florence & The Machine, and Dave. Plus a look at the brilliant visual campaign behind the War Child charity album Help(2), creative directed by Oscar-winning director and music video legend Jonathan Glazer.

This special meeting of Music Video Preservation Society - presented as part of the Mercury Fringe - takes place at 7.45om this Friday, October 16th.
