The Sharks Music Video Awards 2022 are now open for entries, and a music video award jury has been announced, with Polydor Records' Head of Creative Semera Khan at the helm as Jury President.

The deadline for entries is 31st December 2021, for the honours that were added to the long-running Shark Awards in 2016. The Shark's Head trophies will be awarded for best music video, casting, choreography, cinematography, direction, editing, grading, new director, performance, production design, VFX and writing. Last year’s Grand Prix was won by FRIEND for ‘Sad Day’ by FKA Twigs. 

Jury President Semera Khan has commissioned music videos for some of the world’s biggest artists such as the Rolling Stones, the 1975, Lana Del Rey and Madonna. She was also awarded the Best Commissioner award at the UKMVAs for two years running, in 2018 and 2019. Her role is to oversee all music video juries and ensure the usual high standard is maintained throughout the judging process.

The music video jury so far is comprised of a cast of the top creative talent from Agile Films, Atlantic Records, Caviar, Final Cut, Free Agent UK, FRIEND, Island Records, Motherland, MPC, Polydor Records, Somesuch, Stink, Untold and Work Editorial. The full jury list is here.

new creatives that are coming through. So much ‘blood, sweat and tears’ goes into making music videos, it’s encouraging to be recognised and celebrated amongst peers.

"As Jury President of the Sharks Music Video Awards, I will encourage each jury member to look at ALL aspects of the video. It’s not just about the storytelling, the cinematography, edit, art direction, styling, casting - although obviously all key - but also about the music and artist; is it elevating the song?; is it creating a world for the artist; is it making you feel something for the music?”
