2020 Grammys: Calmatic wins Best Music Video for Lil Nas X's Old Town Road
While Billie Eilish swept the main categories at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, the award for Best Music Video went to Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus's Old Town Road, directed by Calmatic.
The video, produced by Candice Dragonas and Melissa Larsen at Prettybird and commissioned by Saul Levitz at Columbia, took the prize from a strong shortlist featuring Chemical Brothers' We Got To Try (directed by Ninian Doff), FKA Twigs' Cellophane (Andrew Thomas Huang), Gary Clark Jr's This Land (Savanah Leaf), and Tove Lo's Glad He's Gone (Vania Heymann & Gal Muggia).
The Best Music Film award went to Beyoncé "Homecoming," directed by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter & Ed Burke, beating a shortlist including the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed longform music video for Thom Yorke's Anima.
News of the death in a helicopter crash of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna hung over proceedings at this year's Grammys, which took place at the Staples Center, the venue of many of Bryant's greatest moments as a player for the LA Lakers.
