Chino Moya, director of acclaimed videos for St Vincent, Will Young, Hurts and more, has signed to Black Dog Films for music video representation in the UK.
Moya, Spanish-born, but resident in London since 2006, is known for his distinctive visual style, especially for his detailed approach to set design, styling and casting. His video for St Vincent's Digital Witness appeared in Time magazine and was listed as one of the best videos of 2014 in Rolling Stone and the The Huffington Post. His short film Out of Here was selected at over 40 festivals worldwide, and his breakthrough music video for Spanish band Supersubmarina, set in an anonymous Soviet city plagued by supernatural events, was shown in festivals around the world, including Soho Rushes and Interfilm.
His most recent work includes the video for Will Young's Love Revolution, featuring the singer as a self-help guru in a bizarre technicolor world; a noirish music video set in the 1960s for synth pop act Hurts; and a charity commercial for the Thalidomide victims that was awarded a Bronze Film Lion at Cannes 2015.
Moya has been signed by Black Dog executive producer Katie Dolan, who comments: “We are so happy Chino has decided to join us here in the UK. We have all been long time admirers of his, so are really excited to start working with him and help develop his creative vision. Watch this space!”
Chino Moya, who is represented by Blur Films in Spain, adds: “I'm thrilled to be joining the company that has produced some of my favourite videos of all time. The new energy that Katie is bringing into a place with such an amazing roster and reputation makes it a dream home for any director.”
