Anna Calvi's Blackout by Michael Baldwin - who joins NTSH London for music videos

Anna Calvi's Blackout by Michael Baldwin - who joins NTSH London for music videos

David Knight - 14th Apr 2011

"Anna wanted something abstract and cinematic and really liked the idea that we never really saw her properly in the video," says Mike. "She was always deliberately filmed from unexpected angles and hidden within the lighting or in the overlays. The train track was Anna's idea - to have a constant never ending journey throughout the video. "All the overlay effects were filmed in camera and me and Ben Todd, the DP, experimented with objects and lights to get some unexpectedly great images. Oh, and we also used cellophane off a cigarette packet as a filter for the lens. Amazing what can work when you have no money!"
