BUG 10: The Aliens’ Magic Man by Lynn Fox & John Maclean
David Knight - 1st Dec 2008
John Maclean of the Beta Band (as opposed to the bloke in the Die Hard films, as Adam Buxton helpfully pointed out last Thursday) was always a dab-hand at making his own videos.
John Maclean of the Beta Band (as opposed to the bloke in the Die Hard films, as Adam Buxton helpfully pointed out last Thursday) was always a dab-hand at making his own videos. Now for his new outfit The Aliens, he's recruited Lynn Fox - in particular Christian Mackenzie - to help him with a psychedelic-influenced back-to-front video for Magic Man. We've seen this sort of thing before of course - The Pharcyde's Drop, Coldplay's The Scientist, to name a couple - but this is a superior, highly enjoyable example of the sub-genre. And nice to see the Fox come out of music video retirement... It was shot at Edinburgh Film Studios, and the outdoor stuff has exactly the vibe and look of something from the Age of Aquarius - but it was actually shot on a Z1. http://uk.youtube.com/watchv=oFrE7VA481I[/youtube]
