Aube Perrie directs a bloody, frenetic fever dream for The Hives' comeback - their first release in eleven years. When a lone dogwalker uncovers an old tape cassette - with the title handwritten in blood - it sets off a series of events that are explosive, surreal and very, very gory... Wearing its horror influences on its sleeve, Perrie goes full-throttle with the madness, paying homage to The Evil Dead, zombie flicks and the Swedish horror scene in a riotous four minutes of blood-drenched fun. This is the way to do a comeback, and by having such a rip-roaring concept deftly executed, may well have gifted The Hives with their best music video to date - no mean feat. Devon Again lives in bloody denial, in Eliot Lee's offbeat promo for Broke Mine Too. Having presumably killed her partner off-screen before the video starts, we see Devon cleaning the blood off of her face, before trying - and failing miserably - to get the corpse to partake in everyday activities with her. It's a concept that sounds horrifying when written, but Lee manages to find a surreal, almost comedic perspective that makes the video utterly captivating. With a flourish of animation and some killer set dressing and styling, it's a memorable visual with plenty of blood and (fake) guts to keep you going.

Elliott Gonzo directs a stylishly hyper-violent video for electronic rock duo Wargasm. Inside a fetish nightclub, we see a crowd of alternative partygoers dance under coruscating strobes, whilst a loathsome antagonist forcefully tries to scupper the event. The video dives into a brilliantly violent haze of bottle-smashing and fistfights, with a bloody climax that will leave viewers breathless. Bold and accomplished work from Gonzo and team - with images that will stick in your head long after you've watched.Warning: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy or similar conditions.

LOOSE reunites with IDLES, and also collaborates with animator Edie Lawrence to direct an eye-popping claymation epic for the piledriving Crawl. In classic claymation style, the fun is how the malleability of the form leads to a jawdropping, often grisly transformation. That is certainly the case here, as a claymation version of IDLES' vocalist Joe Talbot hits the road on his chopper motorbike, riding down a Route 66-style highway.It's not long before the transformation begins, as he ventures further into the unknown. The flesh is slowly being stripped away from his body...Exploring the lyrical themes of addiction and having to face your demons head-on, the video is a brilliant achievement. Not for the faint of heart, maybe, but it is IDLES after all. LOOSE and animator Edie Lawrence, supplemented by VFX wizard Jordan Chappell, echo the work of the real masters of the artform, and it's very good to see claymation having a moment once again.

How do you possibly following up winning two MTV VMAs and two UKMVAs all in one year? By directing an insane video for two of the biggest artists in the world - that's what Tanu Muino has done.It's also an insanely violent one. Muino's video for the Post Malone and The Weeknd team-up for One Right Now pays homage to 1990s Asian Cinema and the shootout genre as a whole. From first to last, this super-slick offering is an all-guns-blazing, super-bloody, stylised trip through a dangerous criminal underworld - with possibly a record-high bodycount for a video. Even one involving The Weeknd.The gritty narrative has The Weeknd singlehandedly taking on gangster boss Malone's army of henchmen - while Malone works his way through an army of Weeknd lookalikes with the scariest gun ever. The artists both boast a remarkable presence in their respective roles - testimony to Muino's skilful direction to combine the elements of John Woo-style action, with their personalities and performance. Fans of these heavyweight superstars will not be disappointed - maybe even from the ones in favour of gun control.

In this video, it represents violence - No surrender. No mercy. Just violence.Drawing from inspirations which include iconic action film The Raid and several Call Of Duty-esque videogames - and featuring Aurélia Agel as the unstoppable agent - the ultraviolent promo boasts spectacular fights scenes, buckets of VFX blood and enough slow-motion to make Zack Snyder jealous.
