Addressing a subject that's all too rarely featured in the medium of music video, singer-songwriter Manizha celebrates her pregnancy in this thoroughly entertaining promo directed by her partner, Lado Kvataniya.Manizha demonstrates that her baby bump is no obstacle to creative wardrobe choices, or a music video-worthy choreography routine, in a series of imaginative set-ups filmed in various locations in the republic of Georgia. She runs this show with character and deadpan humour, while playfully subverting a few video tropes along the way. The art direction is great too.Excellent work from Kvataniya and Manizha that gets behind the idea that an impending birth is a time of joy - and puts a smile on your face.

An unexpected pregnancy puts a strain on a young woman's relationships, in Monica G. Carter's beautifully introspective promo for Rudimental. The video for Jumper focuses on the core relationships in the life of the girl - played by Fernanda Rivera - with her friends, her love interest, but particularly her mother. Through abstract snapshots of private moments, we come to understand that a short-lived fling has long-term consequences which threaten to upend her idea of stability, religion and purpose. But the love between a mother and her daughter prevails, and sets her up for a new chapter in her life. Shot in Mexico City, the locations frame the story within the tapestry of life buzzing in every corner, and the casting is spot-on for every role. Excellent, thought-provoking work.
