Neo-funk, disco revivalist Jamie Lidell adds some visual sparkle to his Prince-like bounce, in the form of sequins, dance-routines and damn fine pizzazz in the video for Big Love, by director/editor Michael Carter and shot by Dustin Lane. But this isn't just showbiz. It's all that and a heartwarming short documentary too, about the QKids dance team - a community group of young girls brought up in social housing in west Cincinnati. And the Qkids' inspiring backstory is another layer beyond the troupe's terrific display of youthful exuberance and talent. And guess who introduced Jamie to the QKids in the first place..."Jamie was introduced to the QKidz earlier in the year by Bootsy Collins, who is a Cincinnati native and apparently grew up in roughly the same neighbourhood as the kids," explains cinematographer Dustin Lane. "Michael Carter and I spent four days in Cincinnati to document the girls - and the story evolved from there."
