The first in a series of videos directed by Alexander Brown heralding the long-awaited return of The Libertines, features a seedy taxi driver, ferrying his customers around Margate in his retro Bentley... when he's not in the pub.The video for Run Run Run is the opening chapter of the series which features characters from the songs on The Libertines new album All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade. And the taxi driver is certainly a classic Libertines character: a sleazy geezer, speeding through the town with a frantic, alcohol-fuelled purpose, played by English actor Geoff Bell (Girl With A Pearl Earring, Kingsman, Stardust). The video was shot across two days, with an action-packed, manic energy that makes the most of the distinctive backdrops and locations in Margate - which happens to be Alexander Brown's home town. "When (commissioner) John Moule told me he had a project that was right up my street I didn’t expect he was being literal!" says Brown. "Working on the new campaign for the Libertines is a real treat for me, I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to take it on but my wife convinced me to give it a go."The only problem was, they didn’t want one video, they wanted five. Not that it’s a huge problem but sometimes it feels like expecting lightning to strike five times. The ideas need long legs. It’s a lot of time to fill!"There is a lot to do still on the campaign and there are always twists and turns along the way, but I really cannot wait to see this huge sprawling Margate opera come together."
