The one and only "Weird Al" Yankovic is the unlikely stand-in for winsome indie-pop singer-songwriter Claire Cottrill aka Clairo in Ayo Edebiri's tongue-in-cheek, slightly surreal take on an old-school TV show performance. As the song starts, "Weird Al" emerges into the stage set in tuxedo to join two female dancers and deliver a passionate lip-sync performance of Terrapin, that's both off-kilter and heartfelt. Which sums up the distinct quality of the man who emerged in the 80s with his comic reworkings of big hit songs of the time - and hugely popular spoof videos.Later on, we venture 'behind the scenes' where Clairo is watching among the TV crew - and where "Weird Al" also gets involved, rather brusquely, on piano-playing duties. A knowingly daft but loveable promo, directed by actress, comedian, and television writer Ayo Edebiri - who also plays chef Sydney Adamu in The Bear - edited by Matt Carter at Final Cut NY.
