What happens if you combine The Late Late Show with a dictator who is celebrating his great achievements? That's the question Ricky Allen explores in his new promo for veteran rock band Porcupine Tree. The video for Rats Return laments the state of the world today, and focuses on an enigmatic host-cum-autocrat, whose sole purpose on stage is to celebrate his power and achievements. Shot in black and white with Soviet-era art direction and typography, the concept is stirring and thought-provoking, and combines surreal imagery with superb performances from everyone on-screen.

Simon Lane directs a second, one-take live performance for Bastille's slot on The Late Late Show with James Corden.Give Me The Future gets a sci-fi inspired post apocalyptic treatment set within a beautifully faded art deco theatre. Frontman Dan Smith traverses the enigmatic location, revealing backup singers and then the rest of the group performing in the main section of the venue. The burnt orange lighting evokes an otherworldly Martian vibe, and the dystopian styling elevates this aesthetic.

Beki Mari directs a brilliant performance of It Gets Dark by Sigrid on The Late Late Show with James Corden."Paying homage to a classic rock and roll performance, it’s an idea of extreme contrasts; of black and white, futuristic, raw energy," says Mari. "We play with this stark simplicity and thus light becomes our point of difference."The deceptively simple concept - consisting of a performance in a white cyc studio - emanates huge amounts of energy, elevated by Sigrid and her band's riotous performance and the dramatic lighting cues. "We used a mix of programmed and handheld light to dramatically change the space; from bouncing bright white light to suddenly being plunged into darkness," continues Mari."The effervescence of this contrast then careers us into a new wildness; flashing spots and a drenching of sensory blue until we land softly, sinking into prismic, celestial sparkle - created using mix of handheld foil, laser mirrors and an Astroraggi."Those elements all combine to showcase a stellar performance by Sigrid, reminding us why she is one of today’s most exciting pop stars.

Dan Massie directs an epic promo for James Arthur's September, shot live for The Late Late Show with James Corden. Inside an enormous, industrial warehouse space, James and his band perform against a wash of vivid red lights, appearing as tiny figures in relation to the gargantuan steel structure. The performance is full of heart and emotion, and the glossy cinematography adds a pure, feel-good pop vibe to the concept.

Jade Ang Jackman directs Years And Years for a live performance on The Late Late Show With James Corden that was broadcast in May.Every bit as infectious and joyous as the official music video, Jackman reworks the environment to a English country garden setting, where vocalist Olly Alexander performs with his backing group with characteristic flair. Captured in a succession of long takes, which takes Olly and co through different parts of the delightful location, the concept has a timeless, laidback feel to it, and gives a focus to the singer's marvellous pop-soul voice.

Oscar Sansom captures a Royal Blood performance for a US talk show, with the excellent staging of Trouble's Coming for The Late Late Show with James Corden.Boasting bold production design and a pronounced orange and blue colour palette, the curved lighting rigs and staging compliment the dynamic cinematography. The saturated aesthetic has an almost 80s neon feel, which matches the band's effortlessly cool performance. "I really wanted to show how incredible Royal Blood are live," states Sansom. "This was the first live performance the guys have done since the release of the new album (Typhoons) and so we wanted to make something really exciting visually, but it was also really important to me that we didn't distract the focus from the band's performance."
