Kalina Pulit directs a personal video for up and coming rapper Po Prostu Kajtek for the Polish version of Netflix show Rhythm & Flow.Pulit brings a cinematic atmosphere to Kaitek’s autobiographical track with inventive setups and camera angles, often from low angles, and involving friends and family in his hometown of Poznan. It was created in a whirlwind turnaround shaped by the TV show’s rules - from meeting the artist for the first time to locking the edit in a week. The brief was to shoot the video in the artist’s hometown and for the video to be a reflection of who they are. The videos were then judged by the jury, who decided which four of five contenders go through to the next round."Back in Sept 2024, I was one of five directors working on creating music videos for Netflix’s Rhythm & Flow Poland," explains Kalina Pulit "We were not only asked to go from 0-100 and deliver a video in a week, but also to include, guide and mentor the artist within this process. We only found out who the artist would be the day before the treatment was due and prep began."I’d never written a treatment for a music video without having heard the song first - as it was still being made. However, during the initial meeting with the artist to discuss ideas, we instantly found a common language. Despite the multiple limitations we were battling against, there was a state of flow to it all - hugely due to excellent production from ShootMe and Po Prostu Kajtek, whose charisma, sensitivity and positivity were fuelling us all.""Our intention was to mirror the emotional landscape of the song through a set of vignettes portraying the artist, his family, friends and the broader community of people in Poznań. The nostalgic layer - the longing for the past - was further accentuated by the one and only group of Scouts: a timeless example of play, courage and belonging."
