Pedro Takahashi reunites with alt-rocker Sam Akpro to conjure a trippy visualizer for the track Chicago Town. The video features a kaleidoscopic amalgam of performance and portraits, distorted with post effects, including videogrammetry. Marrying nostalgic digital footage and new technology, the visual celebrates the city - London, that is - but with a haunting undercurrent. "Chicago Town is a love letter to the city of London," explains Takahashi. "We wanted to show it in all its beauty but also highlight the harshness of the city and the effect it can have on people. Using VFX and datamoshing, we wanted to degrade and abstract faces and locations to the point where they were unrecognizable."Being a visualizer, we were able to be more loose than we would be with a normal video, and this gave us a chance to experiment with lots of interesting new techniques."
