Geordie Greep whips up a storm down at the bowling alley in Ethan & Tom's wonderfully weird and hilarious video for the ex-Black Midi man's debut single.Geordie performs a strange inner voice-style vocal on Holy, Holy whilst dancing a skilful salsa, supping a cocktail and effortlessly bowling strike after strike. It's Twin Peaks meets The Big Lebowski - as the first part leads into the second, where we follow the camera down the bowling lane, through a succession of black voids, like a descent into madness. The split structure of the video follows the character of the track, where the pumped-up ego of Geordie Greep's persona gradually falls apart. Lyrically it's in the same spirit of his work with Black Midi, whilst taking a slight change of direction musically - which is still very intense. This sounds a bit like Steely Dan on steroids. But putting himself front and centre in the video is certainly new and Geordie is very well served by Ethan & Tom with this video. A great job.
