A masterclass of music video creativity, anchored by an emotive performance and inspired production techniques. “This collaboration with Omar was in pursuit of expanding the final millisecond of one’s life," explain rubberband. "In this case, Omar spoke about the moment of his near fatal accident on the way to come out to his family on the black iced roads of Indiana."We wanted to make a film that was both literal in its visualizations of physical, corporeal death and rebirth through medical imaging and non-traditional image making technology and abstract in its representation of the internal recreation of his consciousness.We wanted the video to [reflect] the many different physical pieces of what it means to be a human...We utilized EEGs, ECGs, neuronal activity simulation, heart ultrasound, brain MRI, volumetric capture, motion capture, audio spectrography, thermal imaging, hand cut emulsion transitions, archival video, CGI, print and scanned 2D animation, and standard 35mm to capture Omar."We wanted the video to be an object that reflected the many different physical pieces of what it means to be a human and what it would take, in the realm of magical realism, to rebuild a human soul.”

Alessandro Amaducci directs an impressive animated promo for Paul Roux. The video for Bapteme sees an astronaut trapped in a cage of data, searching for something or someone. He eventually discovers a host of cyber insects creating another world, and another person waiting for him. The encounter between the two characters produces a technological reaction that helps free them. The glitchy black and white textures amalgamate with retrofuturistic design, creating something that feels ethereal and evocative. The splash of colour at the end perfectly represents the journey towards freedom, and a new world lying ahead of the characters.

Callum Lloyd-James directs a lively, graphic-centric promo in his third video for Scottish indie outfit Vistas.Inspired by the geometric, playful vibe of the group's artwork, the video places the boys in a busy composited environment, sliding and rotating through an endless stream of shapes and designs. It's a change of pace from Lloyd-James' previous videos for Vistas, but very much aligned with the experimentation present in his most recent work."The artwork for Vistas new album is so distinct, all based around geometric shapes and cartoon characters, and I wanted to place the band in that world and bring it to life," explains Lloyd-James."It was the first time I'd shot an entire video on green-screen, so it presented some interesting challenges.
