Zandi Tisani directs a thrilling dance promo for South African artist Kamo Mphela's Thula ThulaThe track is taken from NTS's Amapiano Now compilation, celebrating the genre that emerged from the townships of Gauteng and Pretoria and, as the NTS website describes "has quickly established itself as the defining sound of the South African club underground."Kamo's Thula Thula is riotous fun both sonically and visually, and intertwines playful movement with slick, sharp performances. An abstract narrative, featuring a nervous stranger with a briefcase full of secrets, adds an enigmatic layer to the concept, which is an absolute blast to watch from start to finish.“My motivation for shooting this video was an opportunity to work with Kamo who I see as being a world-class performer," says director Zandi Tisani "It’s only a matter of time before she hits the major league and I wanted to be able to say I was there in the early days."With the video I wanted to take her beyond the expected visuals from Amapiano, and create something closer to the cannon of classic pop music videos. Something visually sophisticated but still fun and entertaining.”
